PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
MINUTES
August 3, 1982
This regular raeeting of the Planning and Zoning Commis-
sion was called to order at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 3, 1982
in the City Council Chambers by Chairman John N. Sargent, who then
offered the Invocation.
ROLL CALL. Present: Henry Czech, Adelbert Evans, Nick
Jones, Jack Sargent, Russell Wagner and Joe Washuta.
Absent: Albert Fogle, Louise Relyea and Bob Thompson.
i~1INUTES of the meeting of June 1, 1982 were unanimously
approved as presented, after a motion by Adelbert Evans, seconded
by Henry Czech.
A short discussion of the Land Use portion of the City's
Comprehensive Plan was followed by the recommendation by the Chair-
man that a copy of the same portion of the Lake County Comprehen-
sive Plan be obtained for the next meeting. He expressed con-
cern that conflicts between the two plans could create difficulties
in the future, particularly with annexation of land by the City.
A short discussion ensued about which direction(s) growth may be
expected to take in the future.
SIGN ORDINANCE. Discussion of the Sign Ordinance tabled
at the June meeting was limited to a clarification of the permit-
ted location of 32 square foot signs in R-3 Residential Profes-
sional Zones.
LAKESHORE DRIVE - U.S. 27 ACCESS ROADS. It was reported
that the County is beginning to study the feasibility of building
connecting roads between South Lakeshore Drive and U.S. Highway
27 to ease future traffic problems on Lakeshore Drive. Mr. Evans
pointed out on a topographical map that the options are severely
limited by the contour of the land, making it of prime importance
to secure land before it is acquired for other uses.
NETiV BUSINESS. Mr. Jones and Mr. Sargent urged members
to attend the hearing before the Hearing Officer of the State of
Florida Division of Administrative Hearings on August 19, 1982 at
9:00 a.m. at the Twin Towers. The purpose of the hearing is to
inform the public about the application of Project Debra to form
a unified commercial development district in Orange County. It
is the opinion of these Commission members that Project Debra
will have great impact on Clermont and Lake County.
