03-07-1972 Regular MeetingA meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission was held in the Council Chambers
on Tuesday, March 7, 1972. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by C{airman
Czech with the following members present: Mesdames Allbright and Thomas and
Messrs. Bratton, Baird, Lovelady, Seaver,VanderMeer Gnd Winther. City officials
present were Mayor Don Smith, Councilwoman Watson, "ouncilmen Beals and Sch~r~edel,
City P1anager Hopkins, City Controller Fleming, Director of Community Services Smythe,
and Building Official Nagel. Others present were Mr. and Mrs. Misener and Messrs.
Herman Potbash, John Boyd and Albert Sherman.
The Invocation was given by Mr. VanderMeer.
The Minutes of the meeting held on February 1, 1972 were approved as written.
The Chairman announced that the new business for the evening was the consideration
by the Commission of a request of Mr. Herman Potash for rezoning of Blocks 5 and
8, Woodlawn Subdivision from the present R2 to R3 in order to construct townhouses.
Following discussion on this request for rezoning, motion was made by Mr. Lovelady,
seconded by Mrs. Allbright and unanimously carried that the Commission was in
favor of the rezoning of Blocks 5 and 8, Woodlawn Subdivision from R2 to R3 and
that a recommendation to this effect be made to the City Council.
The Mayor commented on the future task facing the Council in rezoning the entire
city and requested that the Commission members diligently study the present zoning
map so as to enable the Commission to make recommendations regarding the zoning to
the Council.
Mr. Hopkins explained that the present zoning map would be made available, including
recommended changes consistent with the intent of the new zoning ordinance.
The matter will be brought up for discussion at the nFxt Planning and Zoning
Commission meeting on April 4, 1972.
Motion was made by Mr. Winther, seconded by Mrs. Thomas, and carried that the
meeting be adjourned.
