SEPTEMBER 16, 2010
FINAL PUBLIC HEARING - FISCAL YEAR 2010 -2011 BUDGET
The Clermont City Council met in a special meeting on Thursday, September 16, 2010 in the Council Chambers at
City Hall. Mayor Hal Turville called the meeting to order at 7:04 pm with the following Council Members present:
Council Members Mullins, Goodgame, and Thompson. Other City officials present were: City Manager Saunders,
Assistant City Manager Gray, and City Clerk Ackroyd.
Resolution No. 2010 -20 Ad Valorem Millage Rate

Mayor Turville read Resolution 2010 -20 aloud in its entirety.
A Resolution of the City of Clermont of Lake County, Florida, adopting the ad valorem millage rate
for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2010, and ending September 30, 2011; providing for
collection of taxes; providing an effective date.
Mayor Turville opened the public hearing.
The following expressed opposition to an increase in taxes:
Charles Forth, 939 W. Desoto Street; Chase Forth, 939 W. Desoto Street; Hope Lamb, 519 Mar Nan Mar; Nancy H.
Fullerton, 368 W. Montrose Street, read a portion of a letter from Paul Renick in opposition to the tax increase; A
gentleman at 518 W. Desoto Street; Charlene Forth, 939 W. Desoto Street; Hubert Harris, 568 W. Hwy 50; Tim
Murry, 574 E. Desoto Street; Judy Proli, 1020 Everest Street; Bruce Campbell, 337 W. Montrose and Jim Hanks,
757 W. Montrose Street.
Mayor Turville closed the public hearing.
The City Council discussed the proposed millage rate and the possibility of withdrawing additional funds from
reserves in order to retain the lower tax rate.
Council Member Thompson moved to adopt Resolution 2010 -20 with a changed rate currently at
3.623' to 3.142' for 2010 -2011 Fiscal Year; seconded by Council Member Mullins.
Staff asked for a recess to revise the Resolutions.
Mayor Turville recessed at 8:38pm; the meeting reconvened at 8:53pm.
Mayor Turville read Resolution 2010 -20 aloud in its entirety as amended.
The motion passed with all members present voting "aye ".

Resolution No. 2010 -21 Budget
Mayor Turville read Resolution 2010 -21 aloud in its entirety.
A Resolution of the City of Clermont, Lake County, Florida, adopting the budget for the 2010 -2011
. Fiscal Year.
Mayor Turville opened the public hearing.
Tiny Murry, 574 E. Desoto Street, questioned the funding for the downtown landscape project. Council Member
Thompson explained those are funds in the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA).
Mayor Turville closed the public hearing.
Council Member Goodgame moved for the adoption of Resolution 2010 -21 as amended; seconded
by Council Member Thompson.
Council Member Thompson clarified the Chamber of Commerce is not given $50,000 from the City; that is the
allotment for Jenkins Auditorium for maintenance of the building. Council Member Mullins commended staff for
their efforts in preparing the budget.
The motion passed with all members present voting "aye ".
