MINUTES
COUNCIL WORKSHOP
JANUARY 18, 2011
The Clermont City Council met in a workshop on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 in the Planning and Zoning
Conference Room on the first floor of City Hall. Mayor Turville called the workshop to order at 7:12pm
with the following Council Members present: Van Wagner, Mullins and Goodgame. Council Member
Hogan was absent. Other City officials present were: City Manager Saunders and City Clerk Ackroyd.
Pig on the Pond
Cheryl Fishel was present on behalf of Pig on the Pond. She requested a change in the beverage garden to
expand the contained area similarly to what was done for the 2010 Fall Celebration The majority of the
Council agreed with the proposal. It will be placed on the next Council agenda for approval.
2011 Fall Celebration
Council and staff discussed their interest in having a Fall Celebration in 2011. Darren Johnson, Creative
Services Event Management, provided a list of music available and cost estimates. Staff received support
from Council to move forward with beginning the process for the event.
Community Theater/Moonlight Players
Nick Jones requested Council consider selecting a vacant parcel of city owned land for the theater group
to build a future community theater building in the downtown district. Then, the theater could begin
fundraising for construction of a building. The Council discussed 3 possible sites in downtown
Mayor Turville suggested Mr. Jones contact local individuals to determine if there is an interest in
purchasing land for the theater to build on. Council agreed to keep city owned land vacant for a period of
time to allow enough time for the theater group to contact local individuals.
Other
Council Member Mullins requested the Council consider establishing a policy to require property owners
to cover up graffiti on buildings in a timely manner. City Manager Saunders suggested drafting a
Community Standard Ordinance for Council consideration.
Council Member Mullins requested a directory be placed at Waterfront Park, Hancock Field and Legends
Field. He specified a 3 to 4 sided directory to include a roof with protective glass for maps. City Manager
Saunders suggested either the Downtown Partnership or the Chamber provide funding.
Mayor Turville requested removal of the Library sign on the directional signage in downtown.
Council Member Mullins questioned the 8`" Street archway entrance. City Manager Saunders stated once
it is designed to bring it to Council for approval.
