NationaC Day of Prayer
1'V3--CERE..4S, the National Day of Prayer has long been observed in our country; and
WHEREAS, the first time the day was observed was back in 1755 as a day of fasting and
humility; and
WHEREAS, ever since that time the event has been observed by every United States President
in one form or another; and
WHEREAS, the first Thursday in May has traditionally been chosen as the observance of the
National Day of Prayer; and
'WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club of South Lake has sponsored a prayer breakfast to coincide with
the National Day of Prayer for almost 25 years;
3V THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City of Clermont, Lake County, Florida, that the
City does hereby recognize Thursday, May 5, 2011 as the National Day of Prayer and joins with the south
Lake County cities of Groveland, Mascotte, Minneola and Montverde in supporting Kiwanis Club of
South Lake in its observance of the National Day of Prayer.
IN WITNESS 1NHEREOJ, 1, Harold S. Turville, Jr., Mayor of the City of Clermont,
have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Clermont to be affixed this 8 day of
March, two thousand and eleven.
