Proclamation
Whereas, the United States was founded on the pnnciple that all people are born with an
unalienable nght to freedom; and
Whereas, liberty and human rights are fundamental pnnciples of the United States; and
Whereas, human trafficking is modern day slavery exercised through forced labor, debt bondage,
involuntary servitude, forced marriage and commercial sexual exploitation; and
Whereas, the victims of human trafficking are citizens and immigrants, men, women and children,
and .
Whereas, they can be abused in their own countries, or find themselves far from home and
vulnerable, and
Whereas, we must join together as a Nation and global community to provide a safe haven by
protecting victims and prosecuting traffickers; and
Whereas, the City of Clermont recognizes the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation and Assistant
State Attorney, Robert J. Welch, for successfully prosecuting the first domestic sex trafficking case under
the Flonda State Human Trafficking Law;
Now, Therefore, I, Harold S. Turville, Jr., Mayor of the City of Clermont, Flonda, extend
greetings and best wishes to the members, partners and volunteers of Run for Freedom serving Central
Flonda in preparation for the 3' Annual Fundraising Banquet on Friday, March 23, 2012 from 6pm to
l Opm at the Wesley Center of the First United Methodist Church, in the City of Clermont.
In Witness Whereof, 1 have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of
Clermont to be affixed this 13` day of March in the year of 2012.
