COMMITTEE MEETING
7:00 P.M. MONDAY MAY 3, 1999

MINUTES
There is a quorum,Basha called the meeting to order The sign in sheet was passed around and initialed
by all attending members Basha asked the guest to sign in Guest introduced themselves to the committee
Kirk Hall from Clermont Girls Softball League,Kyle Saves from South Lake Little League,and Jackie
O'Shaughnessyfrom south lake Soccer Basha introduced the committee
Approval of the minutes,Amy pointed out that pavilions was spelt wrong Loretta pointed out the
punctuation in chain of commands Joe made a motion for approval of the minutes Charles seconds the
motion All in favor say I All said I
Amy Lesner,Park&recreation coordinator passed out to the committee the updated sheets on park fees,
the park budget,and maintenance cost for the ball fields Amy will discuss these tonight and answer any
r^. question Park budget for 1999 itemized the expenses of the parks Tara asked Amy what is Capital outlay
It is land purchases,boat ramps The utilities include water and electric The results of the fees discussed
at the last meeting Summer program fees will be brought up in front of the city council on May 11 for
approval The pavilion rental was agreed on at the last meeting The ball field/court use will need more
discussion Charles commented on the court fees Amy said it was on a first come basis but if someone
wanted to guarantee a court or field it must be reserved.
Tournament fees Basha asked the League representatives what they paid when they went to a tournament
Kirk Hall said that they paid$300 00 dollars,which includes the fields,the officials and equipment
Basha suggested to Amy that maybe our parks could charge$275 00 to$300.00 dollars for tournaments
with everything included Kyle Saves said that all their officials were volunteers The girl's softball and
soccer league pays their officials.Jackie said that their was not enough fields to hold a soccer tournament,
Amy replied that when Hancock park opens there will be more fields to hold tournament that's why we
need to start organizing the fee now Basha said that Hancock Park would have she thinks six muiltyuse
fields Jeff made a recommendation to keep Palatlakaha Park just for baseball and set up Hancock Park for
softball Basha asked Jeff if this was a motion,and he said he wanted to make a recommendation Amy
agreed with Jeff saying that it would also cut the maintenance fees
League fees are$45 00 per team per season.The committee agrees that these fees are low Basha asked
the league reps how many teams they had playing per season Kirk said he had 24 teams on the girl's
softball league,Kyle said he had 58 in little league,and Jackie said they had 9 right now Registration fees
for the(CGSL)is$20 00 per person they also have sponsors fees, which help support their league
Registration fee for the(SLLL)is$30 00 per person and they also have sponsor fees of$300 00 to
$350 00to help support their league Basha explained to the league reps that Amy was trying to balance
the park&recreation spending so that some of the funds would be available in other areas Jeff suggested
that pay their share of usage fee Kirk hall said that the girl's softball league has funds for land use
development

The leagues have run the concession stands All profits go back into the leagues Amy said she has
researched these fees and that 10%of the sales is fair amount for the city to receive Kyle asked if that was
gross sales and Amy said yes This includes West field,Bishop field,and palatlakaha park
Amy read over the policies and procedures to the committee and the league reps, everyone agreed to these
and a chain of command
Amy said that Shannon Simpson has officially resigned from the Advisory Committee and maybe two
more members
Basha asked the committee if there were any new program ideas Tara suggested that maybe a workshop
should be set up for teens and seniors to get ideas on what activities the,park and recreation could offer
their groups
Basha asked if there was any old business No one replied.

Basha asked if there was any new business Amy said that Jaymark would be putting in a park and they
needed some suggestion Jay said that Clermont needed a public pool Tara agreed Basha said there
would be one at the new sports facility
The next meeting will be June 7'h @ 7 OOp m If there is no more business Basha motioned to adjourn this
meeting Jeff seconds the motion Meeting was adjourned at 8 22p m.
