COMMITTEE MEETING
7 00 P M TUESDAY JANUARY 4TH 2000
CLERMONT, FLORIDA
MINUTES
Basha called the Meeting to order The sign in sheet was passed around and initialed by
all attending members
The minutes were given to each committee member One correction was made Lausier
name was not capitalized Mike Lausier made a motion to approve the minutes Robert
Beasley seconds the motion Motion Passed
The minutes from special meeting dated December 13th 1999 was reviewed by committee
members Robert Beasley made a motion to approve the minutes Loretta Lynn seconds
the motion Motion Passed
Progress on Hancock Park; Kirk Hall from Clermont Girls Softball League updated the
committee on Hancock Park The fields have been cleared and the grading should be
done in the next couple of weeks Kirk asked if a sign could be placed in view that stated
FUTURE HOME OF HANCOCK PARK THANKS TO- and to name the Organizations
that donated money and time into building the park Kirk said that the CGSL would pay
for the sign The committee agreed with the idea Amy would bring it to Wayne Saunders
attention
New Recreation Programs; Amy passed out the new Park & Recreation programs and
discussed it with the committee. Amy asked the committee for any other suggestion
Suggestions made by the committee were Adult dances at Jenkins, Skate area for the
Teenagers, Candle light bowl We need more programs for teens and seniors
VANDALISM IN THE PARKS; Vandalism has increased in the Parks Amy suggested
one way to prevent this would be having Park Rangers monitor the parks after hours
Mike asked Amy where the money comes from to pay for the damages Amy replied that
there is a general fund that helps pay for the damages Amy passed around pictures to the
committee on the vandalism that has occurred at the different parks Some of the damage
included, someone driving a vehicle through the grass tearing up the terrain, and planks
from the boardwalk being removed Jay Smith suggested that Amy call the state to see if
there was any grants money available to hire Park Rangers This should be brought
before the City Council so maybe they could set aside funds Bob Beasley suggested
using off duty police officer to patrol the Parks Jay Smith made a motion to hire Park

Rangers or possibly off duty Police Officer to patrol the parks after hours to prevent any
further vandalism in our Parks Loretta Lynn seconds the motion Motion Passed
NEW BUSINESS; The city council will meet on the 25th of January to appoint the new
Park and Recreation Advisory Committee At the next meeting the new committee will
meet and election will be held It will be brought to the new member's attention that if
more than 3 consecutive meeting are missed that they will be withdrawn from the
committee Amy has an e-mail address if anyone would like to e-mail her
NEW BUSINESS, none at this time
Having no more business Jay Smith made a motion to adjourn the meeting Mike Lausier
seconds the motion Motion passed Meeting ended at 8 18 p m
Next meeting will be February 7th @ 7 00 p m Clermont Police Dept.
