A Community Redevelopment Agency meeting of the City of Clermont was held Tuesday,
October 10, 2000 at Jenkins Auditorium at 691 Montrose Street and was called to order at 6:30
p m with the following Members in attendance: Mayor Turville, Council Member Biddle,
Council Member Mullins, Council Member Lamb, Council Member MacLauchlin, Elaine Hyatt
Barton and Gordon Halgren Also present was City Manager Saunders, and Deputy City Clerk
Maddox.
Minutes
s A motion was made by Council Member Biddle, seconded by Council Member
Mullins and carried unanimously, to approve the Minutes of the CRA Meetings
held on August 8, 2000
Downtown Clermont Partnership-Report
Sherry Halgren, Vice-President of the Downtown Clermont Partnership stated that the October
First Friday event had huge crowds and there were new things to do such as the rock-climbing
wall, the hand-glider exhibit as well as the"John Travolta" look-alike at the 1950's Grease Party
and the `Elvis" look-alike. Ms. Halgren stated that in November the event will be Chocolate Fair
and she encouraged everyone to get their tickets early as there are only 600 available and they
will go fast.
Main Street-Report
Council Member Biddle stated that he, Robert Porter and Program Manager Rose Biddle
attended the "Main Street 101" training and Ms Biddle was still at the training session in
Sanford. Mr Biddle stated that the First Annual Membership Meeting, where officers
will be elected is at 6 30 p.m., Fnday, October 13, 2000 at the Mulberry Inn. Mr Biddle
'—. invited everyone to attend and said food would be provided.

City Manager Saunders stated that the City had not received a decision regarding the
grant amount, however once the City has been officially notified that it will receive
funding the City can advance its own money and get reimbursed when the grant funds
come in Mr Saunders stated that the next step of the project is to have an engineenng
firm do detailed plans and specifications for the Downtown Streetscape Mr. Saunders
stated he would like to move forward with that as soon as possible. Mr. Saunders stated
that he would like Staff to meet with the Main Street Board and Downtown Clermont
Partnership Board to discuss the specifics on the design and in order to make certain the
timing of construction into the specifications.
Council Member Biddle stated that the main concern of the merchants downtown was the
timing of the project regarding when and how long roads would be under construction in
front of their businesses and he felt a meeting with the Partnership and Main Street
Boards was an excellent idea in order to provide information to merchants and alleviate
some fears. Council Member Biddle said there was some confusion among the citizens
concerning Main Street vs. Streetscape and a lot of people think Main Street is
Streetscape so a meeting would also help clear that up.
Downtown Parking-Update
City Manager Saunders stated that construction has begun on West Avenue and stated
that the goal is to have it substantially completed before the Pig On The Pond event.
Council Member Biddle requested that the City do a press release regarding the
construction on West Avenue so that citizens will realize that the Post Office is open.
Sherry Halgren informed the CRA Board that the Downtown Clermont Partnership Board
would be meeting October 12, 2000 to discuss the safety issues of the First Friday event.
Ms. Halgren stated that the crowds have gotten so large that the Board feels that certain

safety issues should be addressed and they will bring their recommendations before the
CRA Board and Council at the next meeting.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 6:50 p.m.
