Item No. 1 Approval of bid for Downtown Kiosks
Tamara Richardson, City Engineer, presented the request. Last year, $20,000 was
allocated in the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) budget to design and build
several informational kiosks. The purpose of the kiosks is to direct visitors and residents
to downtown shops and restaurants and to advertise downtown events. The kiosks would
include a city map and calendar of downtown events with no advertising. A small
committee met over the past year to move the project forward and proposed to install the
kiosks at four (4) locations: Waterfront Park, 8th Street Pier area, Historic Village boat
ramp and the Trailhead. The two (2) additional future locations are the Jenkins
Auditorium site and the Clermont Community Center. The Inland Groves property was
also considered for a kiosk. The project was put out to bid. Signs Now of Carrollwood
submitted the low bid of$10,943. Staff recommended approval.
Community Redevelopment Agency Member Mullins disclosed he served on the
committee.
Community Redevelopment Agency Member Pfeiffer questioned the maintenance. City
Manager Gray stated the city's Public Works department would maintain the kiosks.
Community Redevelopment Agency Chairman Turville opened the public hearing. There
were no comments.
