Pension Board Meeting
Thursday, March 21, 2013
The Board of Trustees of the City of Clermont Police Officers Retirement Plan met on March 13, 2012 in the
conference room at the Clermont Police Department. Board members present: James Wynns, Lt. Scott Tufts
and John Baker. Also present were Joe Van Zile, Administrative Services Director, Matt Dickey and Paul
Shamoun as representatives from Florida League of Cities and Scott Christiansen, Counsel to the Board.
CALL TO ORDER
Meeting was called to order at 4;00 pm
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion by S. Tufts and seconded by J. Wynns to approve Minutes from previous meeting on December 20,
2012.
OLD BUSINESS
Motion by S. Tufts and seconded by J. Wynns to grant Mrs. Evelyn Rodriguez a lifetime benefit of a non-duty
death pension of Police Officer Ramon Rodriguez.
NEW BUSINESS
Nomination of a new member to the Pension Board to replace Chief Broadway. Motion by S. Tufts and
seconded by J. Wynns to accept Jason Sayre as the fifth person on the Pension Board. Council approval to
follow.
ATTORNEY REPORT
Counsel gave a report on Senate Bill 458 and future bills, describing their likelihood of passage and their
potential impact on the Board.
BILLS AND EXPENSES FOR APPROVAL
Motion by S. Tufts and seconded by J. Wynns to pay bills on $10,767.53. Copy Attached. Motion by S. Tufts
and seconded by J. Wynns to approve refund of contribution of police officer Bernard Sharkey in a lump sum of
$538.07.
INVESTMENT REPORT
The Board received the Plan Account Statement. See Attached Memorandum of March 4, 2013.
A report was given by on the Investment Plan. He stated that we were a 60/40 Plan. Based on their investment
report we can expect a 7.5%return this year and for many years to come. An Actuarial Valuation for the
2012/13 Fiscal Year, dated October 1, 2012 was distributed.
Motion by J. Baker and seconded by J. Wynns to accept the report.
