CODE ORDINANCES N~ 90 No. 38-C AN ORDINANCE UNDER THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT, LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 2-17 OF CHAPTER 2 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT, FLORIDA AND PROVIDING FOR THE SETTING OF COMPENSATION OF THE POLICE CHIEF, THE MAYOR, COUNCILMAN AND THE COUNCILMEN OF SAID CITY OF CLERMONT, FLORIDA ... NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT, FLORIDA: Section 1: (a) The Chief of Police and Inspector shall receive compensation as provided in Section 2-17 of the Code of Ordinances until January 1, 1969. At that time the Chief of Police and Inspector shall receive such compensation or salary as the council may determine by motion or resolution. Nothing herein shall prevent the office of Chief of Police and Inspector being separated into two or more offices, and in such event the council shall likewise determine the compensation or salary of each office. (b) The Mayor shall receive compensation as provided in Section 2-17 of the Code of Ordinances until January 1, 1969. At that time the Mayor shall receive compensation or salary for attending each meeting of the City Council which shall be not less than fifty($50.00) dollars, provided, however, that the Mayor shall not receive more than the sum of one hundred ($100.00) dollars during anyone calendar month. Regular, special and adjourned meetings thereof shall be counted as separate meetings. (c) The City Councilmen shall receive compensation as provided in Section 2-17 of the Code of Ordinances until January 1, 1969. At that time the members of the City Council shall receive compensation or salary for attending each meeting of said council which shall not be less than thirty-seven dollars and fifty ($37.50) cents, provided, however, a Council member shall not receive more than seventy-five ($75.00) dollars during one calendar month. Regular, special and adjourned meetings of the Council shall be counted as separate meetings. (d) Regular and special policemen shall receive such compensation or salary as the Council may determine by motion or resolution. (e) The City Attorney shall receive such compensation, retainer or salary as the Council may determine on motion or resolution. Section 2: If any article, section, clause or provision of this Ordinance be deemed or held invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction for any reason or cause, the same shall not affect or invalidate the whole of this Ordinance, nor any part thereof, other than that particular provision deemed or held invalid. Section 3: All Ordinances, or parts of Ordinances, in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 4: This Ordinance shall be posted by law and it shall become law and shall take effect immediately upon its being posted as provided by law. First reading this 26th day of March, 1968. .. . .
