COUNCIL WORKSHOP
MARCH 25,2014
The Clermont City Council met in a workshop on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 in the Council Chambers at
City Hall. Mayor Turville called the workshop to order at 6 OOpm with the following Council Members
present Van Wagner, Mullins, Goodgame and Bates Other City officials present were: City Manager
Gray, City Attorney Mantzaris, and City Clerk Ackroyd
Celebration Center Fiscal Year Budget Projections
City Manager Gray provided an update on the Celebration Center. There will be a budget amendment on
the April 8 agenda. They reviewed the first design plan for the Police Department Staff is negotiating
with the church on existing equipment such as audio visual equipment,tables and chairs and will bring to
Council at a future meeting. The cost for the construction of the new addition for the Police Station will
be for 16,000 square feet. The design and construction will be approximately 2 years.
The Lake County Tax Collector has shown interest in leasing space in the facility. City Manager Gray
expressed a need for storage space Staff and Council discussed suggesting the Tax Collector's Office
build a standalone building on the property City Manager Gray will meet with Bob McKee, Tax
Collector,to discuss the concept and return to Council
The naming of the building will be on the April 8 agenda, ribbon cutting on June 6 and Grand Opening
event on June 7 to include tours. The church lease is up the end of April and the daycare will be closed by
the beginning of June.
Citrus Tower
Greg Homan, owner of the Citrus Tower, purchased the tower in 1995. He approached the City Council
with an offer to sell the Citrus Tower to the city for$2.5 million.
The Council and City Manager Gray expressed concerns with the financial obligations and discussed
creating a committee to seek citizen input.
