AN ORDINANCE UNDER THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY OF CLERMONT, LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA, AMENDING
SECTION 8-2 (B) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES; AMENDING
SECTION 8-2 (E) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES; AMENDING
SECTION 8-16 (B) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES; ESTABLISHING
DATE AND PLACE OF EXAMINATIONS FOR MASTER AND JOURNEYMAN
ELECTRICIANS; ESTABLISHING SCHEDULE OF FEES FOR CERTIFICATE OF
COMPETENCY FOR A MASTER AND JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIAN; AND
ESTABLISHING SCHEDULE OF INSPECTION FEES; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES
IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION BY POSTING.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT HEREBY ORDAINS THAT:
SECTION 1
Section 8-2 (B) of the Code of Ordinances is hereby amended to
read as follows:
Section 8-2 (B) (Examinations shall be conducted at the office
of the city electrical inspector, and for master electricians shall be held
at such time as the board shall direct but shall be held within not more than
twenty (20) days after request for such is made by an applicant.) Examinations
shall be conducted at the office of the electrical inspector for both master
and journeyman and shall be held quarterly on the second Tuesday of January,
April, July, and October. The board of examiners shall examine applicants as
totheir practical knowledge of electrical construction, as defined in this
chapter. Examinations shall be made in whole or in part in writing, and shall
be of practical and elementary character but sufficiently strict to test the
qualifications of the applicant, and to satisfy the board as to the applicant's
ability as a master electrician or journeyman electrician as the case may be
and his familiarity with the rules and regulations governing electrical construction.
If satisfied as to the competency of such applicant, the board shall issue to him
immediately a certificate of competency authorizing him to engange in or work at
the trade or business of electrical construction, as a master electrician or
journeyman electrician.
SECTION 2
Section 8-2 (E) of the Code of Ordinances is hereby amended to read
as follows:

- ' 8-2 (E) The fee for a Certificate of Competency for a master
electrician shall be fifty do-lars ($50.00). The fee for such a certificate
for a journeyman electrician shall be fifteen dollars ($15.00). The above
fees are payable when application for examinations~,iaÎ:'e submitted. In
the event an applicant fails to pass an examination with a passing grade
of 75% or more, all fees will be retained by the Board. Each certificate
shall be valid until the following September 30th, the date on which all
certificates shall expire, but the same may be renewed without further
examination if application is made to said board of renewing of same on
or before September 30th of each year before the expiration of said
certificate. The fee for renewing same shall be twenty-five dollars ($25.00)
for a masters and fifteen dollars ($15.00) for a journeyman.
SECTION 3
Section 8-16 (B) is hereby amended to read as follows:
B-16 (B) Before any permit is issued for the installation or
alteration of electric wiring, device or equipment, the master
electrician making application for such permit shall pay to the
city clerk a fee in such amount as specified below, and the
following permit fees are hereby established:
For minimum electrical permit
For outlets at which current is controlled
or consumed For each outlet up to 500
For each outlet over 500
For each lighting fixture, not including wall
receptacles or porcelain fixtrues not having
soldered joints
For each outlet controlling window type air
conditioning
For each service installation
100 amp. (or less)
200 amp.
400 amp.
Over 400 amp.

All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed.
SECTION 5
Should any section or part of a section of this ordinance be
declared invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, such adjudications
shall not apply or affect any other provision of this ordinance, except to
theextent that the entire section or part of the section may be inseparatable
in meaning and effect from the section to which such holding shall apply.
SECTION 6
This Ordinance shall be posted as provided by law and it shall
become law and shall take effect at 12:01 A.M. on the 10th day of August,
A.D. 1973.
