Clermont Main-Street
Meeting Minutes for December 3, 1999
The Mulberry Inn
Board Members present: Robert Porter, Jeff Biddle, Sandy Lawson, Mary Jackson, Louise Stockton,
Bill Thompson,Kathy Schlachter, Jim Simon
Robert Porter opened meeting at 8.35 A M Barbara Hollerand was not present to take minutes so Sandy
Lawson was volunteered to take notes.
Lout tockton and Jim Simon reported that we still did not have a final logo from Richard at Apple Tree
and he was not finding the time to help us. A motion was made to•terminate his services and request a
final bill Robert Porter stated he had agreed to pay the bill from Appletree as part of his membership fee
or in kind donation, however, we do not know what the amount will be In the same motion it was
agreed to request Brush Brothers provide a quote for logo design to be included on the membership sign
for light up Clermont Motion was passed Jim Simon later motioned that a dollar amount be authorized
for the logo committee to spend in order to expedite the logo process. Five Hundred Dollars was the
amount stated in the motion, seconded by Bill Thompson and passed.
Sandy Lawson gave the Treasurer's Report and reported a list of donations or membership dues received
to date Louise Stockton indicated a check was on the way from her and Howard, and the Downtown
Clermont Partnership presented a check for$1000.00. Robert Porter reported a list of expenses he has
paid on behalf of the Main Street Program as part of his in kind donation and will provide a list with
C...) receipts shortly Jeff Biddle reminded everyone to do the same because all in kind donations were
valuable to the program as part of the application process with the State
Membership drive efforts were discussed in general and tabled again until January due to the pending
Light up Clermont events needing time and attention.
Light up Clermont activities were discussed and Robert Porter provided membership flyers with attached
candy canes for distribution during the parade on Saturday. Float preparations were discussed and the
float for Santa, sponsored by Main Street,will be completed today. The trailer was donated by Russell &
Sandy Lawson along with the vehicle to pull the trailer Many of the decorations were donated by Robert
Porter,Howard and Louise Stockton and carpet by Bill Thompson Carpentry services were paid for by
Russell & Sandy Lawson to construct the float and the Brush Brothers donated their facility and time in
housing the float and helping decorate Robert Porter expressed a concern that the vehicle donated to
pull the float had"Lawson Estate Homes" on the doors and it would imply that this business supported
the float and Main Street more than others Russell and Sandy Lawson agreed to cover their logo on the
truck with magnetic signs during the parade Brush Brothers will be asked to make two magnetic signs
bearing the Clermont Main Street logo if this can be accomplished before tomorrow's parade
Chris Giachetti called in during the meeting and Rose Biddle relayed his message that he was working
with the Brush Brothers on the membership sign to get it up before Light Up Clermont tonight.
Jeff Biddle gave a brief update on the City's plans to build the new City Hall on the existing hospital site
when the hospital moves and park square plans for the Jenkins area. Jeff requested volunteers for a State
Main Street Application committee Jeff Biddle, Jim Simon, Barbara Hollerand, Jayna Hamel and Sandy
Lawson were volunteered. Sandy Lawson stated she would be glad to help, but could not also assist in

Fund raising efforts due to time constraints expected from business demands after the first of the year
She could only participate in one or the other
Jeff Biddle encouraged everyone to work on fund raising efforts and stated he would re-apply to the
South Lake Foundation for the December grant applications Grant applications must focus on why the
funds should be granted to our organization and how our organization helps"the community at large",
not just the downtown
The next meeting will be held Friday, January 7, 2000 at 8 30 P.M at the Mulberry Inn
Meeting was adjourned at approximately 9 45 A M.
