Meeting Minutes for November 5, 1999
The Mulberry Inn
Board Members present: Robert Porter,Jeff Biddle,Donna Covert, Sandy Lawson,n,Mary Jackson,Jay
Rosario,Louise Stockton,Bill Thompson,Kathy Schlachter, Chris Giachetti, Jim Simon,Micki Wolfe.
Others: Mayor Hal Turville for part of meeting.
Robert Porter opened meeting at 8:35 A.M. Barbara Hollerand was not present to take minutes so Sandy
Lawson volunteered to take notes.
Micki Wolfe reported that a final draft of the logo had been discussed with Apple Tree Ink but she was
unable to get a printed version in time for today's meeting and would like board or executive committee
approval of the final design. Micki stated she will attempt to get a final draft circulated and approved by
the Executive Committee prior to next Board Meeting.
A bank account has now been established at Peoples State Bank by Treasurer, Sandy Lawson. All
officers are named as signers on the account. Wayne Turner offered this account to Main Street at no
charge. Donations and membership fees received as of this meeting were: Clermont/Groveland Elks
Lodge $1,000.00 with a commitment for 3 years, First Federal Savings and Loan $250.00, and Lawson
Estate Homes Inc. $500.00. A promise letter was discussed to provide to
businesses with h an interestin
providing a longer term membership commitment. Jeff Biddle indicated that a draft of this type of letter is
offered in the Main Street documents from the State program. Once a logo is finalized, Sandy Lawson
volunteered to put together a draft letter for circulation to members and potential members of Clermont
Main Street Inc.
Membership drive efforts were discussed. Chris Giachetti suggested a wine and cheese appreciation and
recruiting night possibly in February. Mary Jackson indicated there is a Builder's Show at the Chamber in
February and we may want to consider that in scheduling. Jeff Biddle,Mary Jackson, Chris Giachetti and
Robert Porter initially volunteered(or were volunteered)to work as a committee for this event. Further
discussion was tabled until January meeting due to holiday events needing discussion. Meetings with local
real estate brokers and salespersons were discussed and Sandy Lawson volunteered to coordinate
meetings to discuss membership as soon as schedules allow. Micki Wolfe offered speaking time at the
upcoming Gala Auction to promote and introduce Clermont Main Street Inc. Micki and Jeff will also
speak with Howard Stockton about speaking, advertising or sponsoring Chamber banquet in January.
Mayor Hal Turville arrived and presented a check on behalf of the CRA for$10,000.00 to Clermont Main
Street. Photos were taken by Donna Covert of The News Leader for publication.
Chris Giachetti made a motion, seconded by Jeff Biddle,that$500 be spent to begin construction of a
sign before Light Up Clermont listing membership of$1000 or more. The sign quote was $1200.00 total
for an 8x12 sign. Motion carried,none opposed.

.e... Mary Jackson advised there will be a parade ambassador's meeting Tuesday,January 30th at
7:00 P.M. at Jenkins auditorium for any who would like to assist as ambassadors.
Clermont Main Street is sponsoring Santa's Float in the parade. Russell and Sandy Lawson have
donated use of their trailer for decoration and transport of Santa. They may also have a vintage
tractor available to pull the trailer,but it is unsure at this time if tractor will be running well. The
decorating of Santa's float will be at the Ice House(old warehouse on water by Hobo's)on
Wednesday,December 1, 1999. Louise Stockton and Robert Porter offered decorations for use.
Mary Jackson will arrange canvas type banners for trailer with Clermont Main Street Inc. listed
as sponsor.
