AN ORDINANCE UNDER THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
CLERMONT, LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA INCREASING THE BOND FOR
CONTRACTORS FROM ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS($l,OOO) TO FIVE THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($5,000); REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH:
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND
PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION
WHEREAS, the City of Clermont is concerned with the public safety,
health, and general welfare of the people, and the safety to life and property from
fire and other hazards incident to the construction, alteration and repair of
buildings, structures, or premises; and
WHEREAS, the City of Clermont has adopted the Southern Standard Building
Code, 1969 edition, wherein Section 106.2 requires every contractor and builder
to give a One Thousand Dollar ($1,000.00) bond before being issued a building
permit; and
WHEREAS, the increased costs of construction have made a One Thousand
Dollar ($1,000) bond impractical to insure the public safety, health and
general welfare of the citizens of Clermont; therefore:
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT HEREBY ORDAINS THAT:
SECTI ON 1
There is hereby inacted a new Municipal Ordinance, numbered Section 5-4.1,
amending Section 106.2 of the Southern Standard Building Code, 1969 edition, to
read as follows:
Section 5-4.1 It shall be the duty of every contractor or builder,
who shall make contracts for the erection or construction or repair
of buildings for which a permit is required, in the City, and every
contractor or builder making such contracts and subletting the same,
or any part thereof, to pay a license tax as provided in the general
license ordinance, and to register his name in a book provided for
that purpose, with the Building Official, giving full name, residence
and place of business, and, in case of removal from one place to
another in the City to have made corresponding change in said register
accordingly; and it shall be the further duty of every such person
to give good and sufficient bond in the sumcof ('one thousand dollars
($1,000.00), five thousand dollars ($5,OOD.00), to be approved by the
City Attorney, conditioned to conform to the building regulations,
the regulations of this section, and other ordinances of the City
in reference to buildings.
SECTION 2
All Ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed.
SECTION 3.
Should any section or part of a section of this Ordinance be declared
invalid by any court or competent jurisdiction, such adjudications shall not
apply or affect any other"provision of this Ordinance, except to the extent that
the entire section or part of the section may be inseparable in meaning and effect
from the section to which such holding shall apply.

SECTION 4
This Ordinance shall be published as provided by law and it shall become
law and shall take effect at 12:01 A. M. on the 26th day of September, A. D. 1973
