Water Safety Month City of Clermont
Proclamation
WHEREAS, swimming and aquatic-related activities play vital roles in promoting good physical
and mental health and enhancing the quality of life for all people; and
WHEREAS, it is important that water safety rules are communicated to families and individuals
of all ages, whether they be owners of private pools, users of public swimming facilities, boat owners,or
visitors to water parks; and
'WHEREAS, Florida overwhelmingly has the highest unintentional drowning rate in the nation
for the 1—4 year old age group; and
WHEREAS, Lake County has approximately 1,000 named lakes and it is important for all citizens
to understand the essential role water safety plays in preventing drowning and recreational injuries.
NO1N, THEREFORE, be it resolved by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of
the City of Clermont, I do hereby proclaim the month of May as
