AN ORDINANCE UNDER THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
CLERMONT, LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 7, ELECTIONS,
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, AND REPEALING SECTION 7-2, 7-10,
7-11, 7-12, 7-18 ,~_.7':;19 -and 7-29.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT, LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA, HEREBY
ORDAINS THAT:
SECTION 1:
Section 7-1 of the Code of Ordinances, "ELECTION OF CITY OFFICERS,"
Is hereby amended as follows:
On the first Tuesday of December of each year an election
shall be held for the purpose of electing the Mayor and Council
in a manner as specified by the City Charter, and for the election
of other such officers as may from time to time be created by
the City Council under the City Charter.
SECTION 2:
The following Sections of the City Code of Ordinances are hereby
Repealed: Sections 7-2, 7-10, 7-11, 7-12, 7-18 7-19, and 7-29.
SECTION 3:
Section 7-3, "Special Elections" of the City Code of Ordinances
is hereby amended as follows:
Special Elections shall be called by the Mayor upon direction
of the Council in the same manner and conducted in the same way
as General Elections. All laws applicable to General Elections
are applicable to Special Elections.
SECTION 4:
Section 7-23 "Hours Books Kept Open" is hereby amended as follows:
The Supervisor shall keep the registration books open daily
Monday through Friday, excluding legal holidays. The registration
books shall close at Five O'Clock P.M. thirty days prior to an
election and shall remain closed until after such election, during
which time no registration, address change, party change, or name
change shall be accepted for such election. However, when the
books are closed for an election, registration and changes in

registration shall be accepted for all subsequent elections.
For Federal and State elections, the registration laws and
procedures of the Laws of the State of Florida shall govern.
SECTION 5:
Section 7-27, "State Law to Govern" is hereby amended as follows:
In all matters not otherwise provided for herein as to the
registration of e~ectois and election procedures, the Laws of the
State of Florida shall govern.
SECTION 6:
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed.
SECTION 7:
Should any section or part of a section be declared invalid by any
court of competent jurisdiction, such adjudications shall not apply
or affect any other provision of this ordinance, except to the extent '
that the entire section or part of the section may be inseparable in
meaning and effect from the section to which such holding shall apply.
SECTION 8:
This ordinance shall be published as provided by law, and it shall
become law and take effect thirty ( 30) days from the date of its
second reading and final passage.
