R-65-053• • RESOLUTIONS N ° 8 7 RESOLUTION NO. 53 WHEREAS, the Junior Woman's Club of the City of Clermont has been responsible for the operation and maintenance of the activities conducted at the Highlander Hut located on City owned property; and WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City Council of the City of Clermont that it is the consensus of the membership of the Junior Woman's Club of Clermont that the operation and maintenance of these activities could best be handled by another group; and WHEREAS, a Joint Proposal has been submitted to the City Council of the City of Clermont by the Highland Hut Youth Council, endorsed by the Junior Woman's Club, concerning the operation and maintenance of the Highlander Hut; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this City Council of the City of Clermont, Lake County, Florida, does hereby accept and approve said Joint Proposal which is attached hereto and made a part hereof. ADOPTED at an Adjourned Meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont, Lake County, Florida, held on By: • • RESOLUTIONS N o g g RESOLUTION AND PROPOSAL Submitted by; JUNIOR WOMAN"S CLUB of CLERMONT To: CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT, FLORIDA Dated: November 2, 1965 WHEREAS the Junior Woman's Club of Clermont is presently responsible for the operation, maintenance and activities conducted at the Highlander Hut located on City owned property; and WHEREAS, it is the consensus of the membership of the Junior Woman's Club of Clermont that the operation and maintenance of these activities could best be handled by another group; THEREFORE, We, the Junior Woman's Club of Clermont Resolve that the following proposal which has proven to be an efficient and acceptable method of handling such activities, be submitted to the City Council of the City of Clermont concerning the operation and maintenance of the Highlander Hut. PROPOSAL_ 1. We propose that the managing, operating and maintaining and scheduling of activities at the Highlander Hut be conducted by a joint Youth Council-Advisory Council which will be composed as follows: a. The Youth Council shall consist of officers duly elected from the Highlander Hut membership and also two (2) representatives from each of the grades, 7 through 12, of the Clermont High School. b. The Advisory Council shall consist of the following: 1. A Junior Woman's Club representative 2. A representative appointed by the City Council. 3. A faculty representative from the Clermont High School. 4. Five (5) adults elected by the Youth Council. c. The president elected from the Highland Hut membership shall serve as president of the Youth Council. d. The Advisory Council shall elect a chairman from its membership. e. The initial term for which the membership of each Council shall be elected shall be staggered so that the membership will have • • RESOLUTIONS N ~ 8 9 over-lapping terms. We propose that one-half of the membership of each Council be elected for six (6) months and one-half be elected for one (1) year, initially. f. The Youth Council may suggest and recommend activities and shall draw up By-Laws to govern the operation of the Highlander Hut, but any recommendations shall be subject to approval of the Advisory Council. g. The Youth Council and the Advisory Council shall hold joint meetings at least once monthly, such meetings to be open to the public. We, the Junior Woman's Club of Clermont, feel that the above proposal would be an efficient and practical method of conducting continuing activities at the Highlander Hut. However, if this method should not prove acceptable then the Junior Woman's Club respectfully requests that the management of the highlander Hut be returned to them.
