A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT,
FLORIDA CREATING A SPECIAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR PARKS
AND RECREATION; PROVIDING FOR THE. MEMBERSHIP OF THE
COMMITTEE; APPOINTMENT BY THE CITY COUNCIL AND DUTIES
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS,Pursuant to Section 2-61 of the City Code,the City Council has the authority to
create special committees as the Council deems in the best interest of the City of Clermont; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined by the City Council that the creation of a special
committee to be known as the City of Clermont Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee is in the
best interest of the citizens of the City of Clermont.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,by the City Council of the City of Clermont,
that:
SECTION 1.
The City Council of the City of Clermont does herby create a committee to be known and designated
as the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee subject to the following:
1. Membership. There shall be five(5)members of the Parks and Recreation Advisory
Committee. The seats shall be numbered one(1)through five(5),shall correspond to the numbers of
the seats on the City Council and shall be appointed by the council member filling that seat. All
seats shall be coterminous positions with the corresponding council seat.
2. Qualifications. To qualify as a member,the individual must be a registered elector for
the City of Clermont.
3. Staff Assignment/Responsibilities.
a) The City's Parks and Recreation Director, or his designee, shall be the lead
staff for the Committee and shall update the committee on a regular basis with regard to ongoing
Parks and Recreation issues and initiatives involving the City. The City Manager shall designate
necessary staff to provide administrative support to the Committee.
b) The Committee shall meet as often as necessary to provide the City's Parks
and Recreation Director and the City Manager with recommendations on sustaining,generating,and
developing parks and recreational programs within the City of Clermont. In addition to any other
responsibilities as may be directed by the City Council and related to Parks and Recreation, each
member shall serve as an ambassador for Parks and Recreation within the City.

4. Conduct of meetings.The Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee shall operate in
accordance with applicable law. At its first meeting of each calendar year, the committee shall
appoint a chairperson,who shall conduct the meetings and a vice chairperson who shall conduct the
meetings in the absence of the chairperson. A quorum of three (3) shall be required to conduct
official business of the committee.
SECTION 2.
All resolutions,rules,regulations,restrictions or policies of the City of Clermont in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed to the extent of the conflict.
SECTION 3.
This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
