R-70-1591 RESOLUTIONS N0. 159 N~ 231 WHEREAS, the City of Clermont and other municipalities.in the State of Florida are desperately in need of additional funds for the purpose of street maintenance, and WHEREAS, the public streets of said municipalities are used by the General Public as well as by its taxpayers, and WHEREAS, we are of the opinion that said general public should make some financial contribution towards the cost of the maintenance of said streets, and ' WHEREAS, i n our opinion the most fair and equi table method for such contribution would be through an additional tax on gasoline, therefore BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Clermont that the State legislature be requested and urged to levy an additional one cent per gallon tax on the sale of gasoline and that the proceeds. from such tax be returned to the muni ci pali ties by some equi table method.
