Community Redevelopment Agency
February 26,2019
The Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) met on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 in the Council
Chambers at City Hall. Community Redevelopment Agency Chair Gail Ash called the meeting to order at
6:00pm with the following members present: Patrick Bianchi, Roman Brana, Tim Bates, Diane Travis,
Ray Goodgame and Heidi Brishke. Other City officials present were: City Manager Gray, City Attorney
Mantzaris,and City Clerk Howe.
Item No. 1 —CRA Update
City Manager Gray introduced Economic Development Director Schmidt to provide an update on the
Community Redevelopment Agency.
Economic Development Director Schmidt stated the Community Redevelopment Agency terms out in
2027. A current bill being proposed would not allow the Community Redevelopment Agency to spend
money to develop tourism. If passed, the Community Redevelopment Agency's budget would first be
approved by Lake County Board of County Commissioners and then return to the City's Community
Redevelopment Agency and the City Council for final approval. An update on the activities of the
Community Redevelopment Agency was provided with new businesses within the City, the completion of
Victory Pointe project, the Trail Town Designation, parking, grants, new additions, and events covered in
the update.
City Manager Gray stated staff would keep the Council updated on the bill's progress. The push at the
Florida League of Cities is to keep Home Rule however, the State wants more control over the cities.
