04-01-1919 Regular MeetingClermont, Fla April 1st 1919 Regular meeting of Clermont Council called to order by Pres Brantley. All members present. Finance Com reports on auditing Collector Bailey’s books. Found correct and report accepted. Road Com. Mr Goodenough reports on St Work. Report accepted. No report from other committees. Mr Hampton appeared before Council asking for street lights and better protection from cattle running at large. Council promised not less than four lights for streets. Mr Hampton to designate location of said lights and also promised better protection from cattle running at large. Location of clay road left to discretion of Street Committee. Collection reports received from Tres $850.10. Report accepted. Treas reports on hand $406.26. Rec’d $418.30. Paid out $76.38. On hand $758.18. Report accepted. Clerk reports $4.00 from sales of dog tags. Report accepted . Moved that all bills presented at this meeting be paid except bill of Gaines auto Truck Co for hauling clay on St to School House. Said bill for $159 be discounted 25% and said 25% be paid on acceptance of work. Carried. Moved that Town of Clermont pay Collector Bailey $25.00 salary. Carried. Moved by Mr Johnson That owning the fact that so many thefts has been committed of late, the Town of Clermont will pay a reward of $25.00 for information that will lead to the arrest and conviction committing a theft within the corporate limits. It will also pay a reward of $10.00 for information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of any person writing, printing or making anything obscene upon the walks or fences or other public place within the corporate limits. Carried. Moved by Mr Goodenough that whereas the State has extended the time for paying taxes and more that the Town of Clermont, Fla extend the time for paying taxes for thirty days of to the 1st day of May 1919.
