many lawless acts and to the apparently lawless condition
of things in the community of Clermont, caused by parties
from the outside and because life and property seems to be in
jeopary, the citizens, after due deliberation have resolved
to incorporate the town under the name of Clermont,
it being situated in the county of lake and state of florida.
In keeping with Section 1, chapter 37 laws of florida
as to numbers and Section 2 of same chapter as to notice,
the following notice was posted in three public places
within the limits proposed to be included in said
Corporation of Clermont.
Notice of the organization of the
Town of Clermont, Lake County
State of Florida
All persons who are registered voters residing
within the following proposed Corporate limits, to wit;
Beginning at a point where the centre of Division
Street intersects the east side of Lake Minneola,thence
extending east along the centre of Division Street to a
point six hundred and sixty feet east of the
intersection of the centre of Division Street and
Bloxham Avenue, thence south eight thousand nine
hundred and ten feet more or less to the centre of
Hooks Street, thence west along the centre of Hooks
Street thirteen hundred and twenty feet more or less
to Lake Minnehaha, thence in a westerly course
along the borders of Lake Minnehaha, the several
courses and distances thereof to the borders of the
east side of Lake Palalakaha, thence northwardly
along the east side of the Palatlakaha to Lake
Hiawatha and thence north-easterly along the
borders of Lake Hiawatha to Lake Minneola and
thence eastwardly along the boarders of Lake Minneola
the several courses and distances thereof to the
place of beginning. Containing Two Thousand
acres more or less; are hereby requested to assemble
on Tuesday the ninth day of June A.A. 1891 at
two oclock P.M. at Wilson's Hall in Clermont,
Lake County, State of Florida to select officers
and organize a municipal government.
