A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of: Clermont
was held Tuesday, July 1.5, 1980 in the office of the City Manager
for the purpose of discussing Wastewater Alternatives. The meeting
was called to order at 6:10 p.m. by Mayor Smoak with the following
Councilmen in attendance: Carlisle Byrd, Lester Cole, Bob Pool
and Dennis Thomas. Other City Officials present were City Manager
Forbes, City Attorney Baird, Finance Director. Saunders and City
Clark Rozar.
There was some discussion on the decision by the Lake County Pol-
lution Control Board approving the Ci.ty's proposal for landspreading
at the Lake Shepard Groves site.
Councilman Pool presented a site alternative for consideration.
C. M. Pool and Sons offered 25 acres of land and a 5 acre lake
available for purchase immediately, 20 acres of adjoining land
that can be leased for three years with option to buy ($500 per
acre), and 20 acres of adjoining land that can be purchased in
1982. The price of this land would be $7,000 per acre.
Councilman Thomas related he had done some research on effluent
disposal on golf courses and asked that Council table any action
at this meeting pursuing other concepts to allow time for further
research into the golf course concept.
