07-10-1973 Supporting DocumentsMINUTES N9 954 111GUI.0 MEETING A Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was held in the Council Chambers on Tuesday, July l0, 1973. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M. by Mayor Don E. Smith with the following members present: Councilmen Byrd, Deals, Schroedel afid Smoak. Other officials present were: Acting City Manager Smythe, Controller Fleming, City Clerk Carroll, City Attorney Vason and Chief of Police Tyndal. Others present were: Mrs. Joan Modica, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Roane, Master Frank Beals and the Messrs. Broadway, McCabe, Berry, Rambo, Christopher, Czech, Loomis, Sperry, Bratton, Perry and Langley. Representatives of the Daily Commercial and the Orlando Sentinel Star were also present. The Invocation was given by Councilman Beals, followed by repeating of the Pledge of Allegiance in unison by those present. The Minutes of the meeting held on June 26, 1973 were approved as written. Mayor Smith announced the first order of business to be a Public Hearing to consider request of Ralph Roane for a variance in the required rear yard setbacks and the use of previously provided paved parking in order to construct four single family dwelling units on property owned by him described as: The east 50' of the NW14 of Lot 3, Block 0, less the North 50 thereof used for road and parking. Mr. Roane appeared before Council to present his request and to submit a Plot Plan of the proposed construction. There was no one present who voiced objection to this request, whereu on motion was made Councilman Schroedel seconded b Councilman Smoak and carr a tat the re nest e granted. Members of the Lake County School Board appeared before Council in order to negogiate what they felt to be exorbitant costs to them in order to connect the Clermont High School to the sanitary sewer system because of the location of their designated lateral, advising that the shortest and most economical route would be from their existing plant to East Avenue, though this would require a lift station. Councilman Smoak inquired about picnic tables for the Jaycee Beach area and Mr. Smythe advised that 10 had been ordered to be paid for by the Chamber of Commerce. Councilman Schroedel inquired if the city fire department was obligated to answer fire calls either north or south to the motel complexes on Highway H27, and he was advised that they were not.
