SPECIAL MEETING
A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was held in the
office of the City Manager on Monday, March 20, 1972. The meeting was called to
order at 5:00 P.M. by Mayor Don E. Smith with the following members present:
Councilwoman Watson and Councilmen Schroedel and Smoak. Others present were:
City Manager Hopkins, City Clerk Carroll and Chief of Police Tyndal.
Mayor Smith stated the purpose of the meeting was to inspect the Registration Rolls
and prepare the Ballot Boxes for the SPECIAL ELECTION to be held on Tuesday,
March 21, 1972 with regards properties presented for annexation to the City.
Motion was made by Councilman Schroedel, seconded by Councilwoman Watson and
carried that the Registration Rolls be declared in order; That the Ballot Dom
were properly prepared; That the Ballot Boxes be locaed and the meys and
Registration Rolls be turned over to Police Chief Tyndal for delivery to the Clerks
of the Election on the morning of the Special Election.
The meeting was adjourned by Mayor Smith.

Dear Mr. Hopkins;
We would like to make application for a change in
zoning of property on the N. W. corner of Highway 50 and 5th
Street in Clermont. The property is presently zoned C-1 and
has been used as a service station in the past, and we would
like to have the zoning changed to C-2 to enable us to operate
a 'fused car salest'.
At present the American Oil Lease has expired,and the
property is vacant. As we have learned through past records,
the service station business and the rental of the property to
the American Oil Company have not proved to be profitable.
From our financial standpoint, said property would prove
to be a greater asset if changed from C-1 to C-2.

Notice is hereby given to all concerned that the City Council
of the City of Clermont shall hold a PUBLIC HEARING in the
Council Chambers located on the corner of best Avenue and
DeSoto Streets on Tuesday, March 14, 1972 at 7:30 P.M. for
the following purpose:
To consider request of Thomas E. and Elizabeth B. Cashwell
for the rezoning of 6he South 90 feet of Lots 7 and B in
City Block 60 from the present C-1 Zoning to a C-2 Zone.
All interested parties will be given an opportunity to express
their views on the above mentioned matter.

pleaee be notified that Council has received a request to
consider the re -zoning of the South 90 feet of Lots 7 and
8 in City Block 60 from its present C-1 Zoning to a C-2
Zone in order that a Used Car Sales might be operated at
that location.
The City Council shall hold a Public Hearing to consider
this matter on Tuesday, March 14, 1972 at 7:30 P.M. in
the Council Chambers located at the corner of West Avenue

Attached you will please find photo -copy of letter
from Thomas E. and Elizabeth B. Cashwell wherein they
are requesting a change in the Zoning classification
of their property described as The South 90 feet of
Lots 7 and 8 in City Block 60 from the present C-1
Zoning to a C•2 Zone.
The necessary publication fee has been posted by them,
and the publication shall appear in the March 2nd and
March 9th editions of the local Press announcing the
Public Hearing to consider this matter shall be on
March 14, 1972.
All abutting property owners have been notified of
this request and the scheduled Public Hearing.

City Council, sitting as a Zoning Board of Adjustment, shall
hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, March 14th to consider request
of Highcastle, Inc. for a variance of 2' 10" in the required
sideyard setback of a corner lot in an R1 Zone.
The necessary publishing fee has been posted and Legal Notice
of the Public Hearing time and date shall appear in the
March 9th edition of the south Lake Press.
Copies of the letter of request and a sketch of the property
involved is attached hereto.

Dear Mr. Hopkins:
We would like to request a variance of 2 feet 10 inches !
on the above building lot so as to face this house as
Mr. Kennedy's house sits next door. The reason for this
request is because contract purchaser, Mr. Pauley, would
like the patio area in the rear of the lot so as to over- t
look the Lake.
This variance will in no way offset the uniformity nor
will it distort the continuity of the other homes we
are building on this street.
