SPECIAL MEETING
A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was
held in the office of the City Manager on Monday, November 22, 1971.
The meeting was called to order at 5:10 P.M. by Mayor Don E. Smith
with the following members present: Councilwoman Watson and Councilman
Deals. Others present were City Manager Hopkins, City Clerk Carroll
and City Attorney Langley. A representative of the local Press was
also present.
City Clerk Carroll reported that petitions had been filed for Councilmen
in Groups 2 and 4, subject to the General Election of the City of Clermont
to be held on Tuesday, December 7, 1971; that these petitions had been
thoroughly checked and were certified to be in order and that such
nominating petitions were as follows:

Motion was made by Councilman Beals, seconded by Councilwoman Matson
and carried that all petitions were found to be in order; that the
candidates be declared qualified; that the City Clerk be authorized to
have the necessary ballots prepared for absentee voters and that
voting machines be used in the General Election being held on Tuesday,
December 7, 1971.
The meeting was adjourned by Mayor Smith.

Ralph Graham of 1721 Penzance Road has applied for
a variance in the front setback requirements of
12 feet. The property is located on Lots 8-9-10
of Block 2 in Riviera Heights Subdivision which is
in an RiA Zone that requires a front setback of 35 feet,
and he wishes to start construction 23 feet back.
The original building onto which this addition is pro-
posed now is located 29 feet back.
Mr. Graham has posted the necessary publishing fee

Restaurant, has requested permission to erect a 3' x 5',
illuminated sign at the restaurant. (See attachment). -
The ne-a sign will replace the existing non -illuminated
sign.
The arrangements for the sign will be made by fir. Collins

CITY MANAGER'S REPORT
We have received a request from Mr. and tors. Calvin Hettinger,
334 Crystal Lake Drive, for a lake front easement across from
their property, particularly described as Lots 15, 16 and the W
1/2 of Lot 17, City Block 26. Approval of the City Council
is requested to execute the agreement.
We have received a request from Mr. Victor Collins, operator
of the Jaycee Beach Restaurant, to erect a 3' x 5', illuminated
sign at the restaurant. The new sign will replace the existing,
non -illuminated sign. The arrangements for the sign will
be made by Mr. Collins and any costs involved will be borne by
him. Since the sign will be located on City property, Council
approval is requested. It should be pointed out that the zoning
is R2 and illuminated signs are not normally permitted.
Each member of the Council has been provided a copy of the
proposed sign ordinance. We plan to present the proposed ordinance
at the regular meeting on December 28. We also plan to have
the recommended changes to the zoning ordinance at that time.
Copies of the revised zoning changes should be ready for
distribution to the Council next week.

concerning our hours of
operation at the commissioned
Western Union Agency in Clermont.
The hours Monday -Friday are 830A-5P and
Saturday 830A-330P, however we have had a problem with
the former agent at the bus station and have removed
her as our agent.
We are in the process of finding a replacement
agent who will observe the above hours which should according
to the telegraph file for Clermont suffice.
