ADJOURNED MEETING
An Adjourned Meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont
was held in the Council Chambers on Tuesday, September 23, 1969.
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Mayor Don E. Smith
with all Council members present. Other officials present were:
City Manager Johnson, City Clerk Carroll, City Controller Fleming,
City Attorney Langley and Chief of Police Tyndal. Others present
were the Messrs. C.A.1langold, Lynn Brotherson, George Pickard,
Jerry Drown and Gerald Eaton. Representatives of the local Press
and the Orlando Sentinel were also present.
The Invocation was given by Councilman VanderMeer.
The Minutes of the Meeting held on September 9, 1969 were approved
as written.
City Manager Johnson reported that bids for the construction of
a fishing pier on Lake Minneola at the end of Bth Street had again
been advertised and the bid opening would be held on October 2, 1969.
City Clerk Carroll reported that members of the Council were invited
to attend a meeting to be held in the Jenkins Auditorium on Thursday
evening, September 25th beginning at 7:00 P.M. for all persons int-
erested in obtaining an airport for the Clermont area.
Mayor Smith reminded the Council of the monthly Orange Blossom
Breakfast to be held on Wednesday morning, September 24th in the
Jenkins Auditorium.
Councilman VanderMeer offered and moved the adoption of
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING A BUDGET OF EXPENSES FOR THE GENERAL OPERATION
OF THE GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT FOR THE FISCAL YEAR OF
1969-70 AND MAKING APPROPRIATIONS THEREFORE: PROVIDING A TAX LEVY
014 ALL PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF CLERMONT, LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA FOR
THE YEAR 1969 FOR THE GENERAL OPERATION EXPENSE OF THE CITY OF
CLERMONT, LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA and the Ordinance was read in full
for a second reading. The motion was seconded by Councilman Oswalt
and upon roll call vote on passage of the Ordinance, the result was:
Ayes: VanderMeer, Oswalt, Cochran and Bratton. Total Ayes: Four.
Nayes: None. Absent: None. So the Ordinance was adopted, the
Number 23-11 assigned to it and a copy ordered posted.
Councilman Oswalt introduced All ORDINANCE UNDER THE CODE OF ORDINANCES
OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT, LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA, CLOSING A CERTAIN
PORTION OF AN UNNAMED STREET SURROUNDING LAKE WINONA IN THE CITY OF
CLERMONT, FLORIDA and the Ordinance was read in full by the City
Attorney. It was consensus of Council that a registered survey of
this portion of an unnamed street be submitted to Council for a
permanent record prior to any final adoption of this Ordinance.

Councilman Cochran advised the Council that although there were
investigators employed by the Lake County Sheriff's Department for
felony charges, there were none assigned to the South Lake County
area, whereby he moved that the City Attorney be instructed to pre-
pare the necessary Resolution from the Council requesting that an
investigator of felony charges from the Lake County Sheriff's
Department be appointed/assigned, and preferably to live, in the
South Lake County area. The motion was seconded by Councilman
Vanderl•leer and unanimously carried.
The following suggestions were submitted by Councilman Vanderhieer;
That this would be a proper time for any needed work to be done on
the Little League Fields; That an expression of concern from the
Council be forwarded to Albia Sheldon, City Sgperintendent, recently
hospitalized from a heart attack. These matters were referred to
the City Manager.
The meeting was adjourned by Mayor Smith.
