Proclamation - 06.23.2020 - Parks & Recreation MonthV'V LER UI�TC Choice of ChamRwns' PROMANATIOX -Whereas, parks and recreation programming enhance our quality of life by contributing to healthy lifestyles, building community, creating economic development and encouraging environmental stewardship; and -Whereas, recreation creates opportunities for people of all ages and cultures to participate in activities that encourage health, education, and social interaction; and -Whereas, parks and recreation programs boost the economy, enhance property values, attract new business, increase tourism. and reduce crime; and -Whereas, parks, trails and open spaces provide encounters in nature, maintenance of clean air, and the protection of plant and animal wildlife; and -Whereas, recreation, therapeutic recreation and leisure education are essential to the rehabilitation of individuals who have been ill or disabled; and -Whereas, parks, open spaces, and recreation services have been integral to keeping communities connected through the COVID-19 pandemic; and -Whereas, park and recreation staff have continued to provide critical services to their communities by caring for the children of front line workers, providing meals to families, and continuing to provide safe spaces for people to maintain healthy lifestyles; and -Whereas, the National Recreation and Park Association and the Florida Recreation and Park Association have designated July as Parks and Recreation Month; Wow, Therefore, I, Gail L. Ash, Mayor of the City of Clermont in the State of Florida, do hereby proclaim the Month of July, Two -thousand and Twenty as In -Witness -Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the City of Clermont to be affixed this 23'd Day of June in the year Two Thousand and Twenty.
