06-01-1993 Workshop Meeting CITY OF CLERMONT MINUTES WORKSHOP MEETING June 1, 1993 A Workshop Meeting of the City CoUncil of the City of Clermont was held Tuesday, June 1, 1993 in the City Hall Conference Room. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Pool at 7:00 p.m. with the following Council Members in attendance: Council Member Norquist, Council Member Turville, Council Member Cole, and Council Member Ivey. Also present was City Manager Saunders, Police Chief Tyndal, Detective Cheatam, and Attorney Baird, Water Systems City Manager Saunders updated City Council on the review of the Greater Hills water system. He then gave City Council an update on the proposed agreement betw~n the City and ZOM Development, Inc. for water services to Johns Lake Estates. Funding and the method of collection of connection fees was reviewed. Attorney Baird was present to answer questions regarding the agreement. City Manager Saunders indicated the agreement would be placed on the Council Agenda for approval. Attorney Baird left the meeting at 7:30 p.m. Lucille DeRamus Lucille DeRamus arrived at the meeting at approximately 7:30 p.m. Mrs. DeRamus discussed with the Council her concerns with the treatment of her son John DeRamus regarding two incidents in which he has been involved. John Cody DeRamus arrived at the meeting at approximately 7:55 p.m. Mayor Pool stated that there should be an effort from both parties to resolve any conflicts. After discussion, it was the consensus that the Police Department and DeRamus's should make every effort to work closely together. Chief Tyndal, Detective Cheatam, Lucille and John DeRamus left the meeting at approximately 8:15 p.m. CITY OF CLERMONT MINUTES WORKSHOP MEETING May 6, 1993 Page 2 Semi-Automated Cart System for Garbage Collection City Manager Saunders discussed the St. Johns County bid for containers of $41.84. Also discussed was the possibility of a lease/purchase agreement. A proposal will be placed before the Council for this project. Clermont Aluminum Site City Manager Saunders informed the Council of his meeting with Peoples State Bank regarding the Clermont Aluminum site. The bank is proceeding with an environmental assessment of the site as directed by DER. When this assessment is completed the report will be presented to the City for consideration of the site. Concrete Bleacher Pads at Palatlakaha Recreation Area City Manager Saunders indicated that there is enough money in the current budget for this expenditure assuming there is no unforseen expenditure between now and the end of the year. It was the consensus of the Council to proceed with this project. NABFBasebaH Program Mayor Pool discussed the NABF baseball program and their use of our facilities. Manager Saunders explained that they had been given the information regarding schedule and rental fees several weeks ago and they have not submitted any information to date. City South Lake High School Football Program City Manager Saunders informed the Council that the South Lake High School football program is now being combined and after discussion it was the consensus to place a half page ad in the program. CITY OF CLERMONT MINUTES WORKSHOP MEETING May 6, 1993 Page 3 Concession, at Jaycee Beach for Bike Rentals The proposal by Dr. Mike Ray to open a concession at Jaycee Beach for bike rentals was reviewed. After discussion it was the consensus that placing more bicycles on this road at this time would not be in the best interest of the area and that we should encourage Dr. Ray to wait until the Rails to Trails project is a reality to consider this project.
