03-25-1993 Workshop Meeting CITY OF CLERMONT MINUTES WORKSHOP MEETING March 25, 1993 A Workshop Meeting of the City Council. of the City of Clermont was held Thursday, March 25, 1993 in the City Hall Conference Room. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro Tern Turville at 6:30 p.m. with the following Council Members in attendance: Council Member Norquist, and Council Member Ivey. Also present was City Manager Saunders and Planning Director Harker. Property Purchase Consideration Council Member Norquist stated he would like for the City to consider the purchase of two parcels of property that are available in the City. One is the old junk yard located on Minneola Avenue and the second parcel is the old American Aluminum site located on 12th Street. There was considerable discussion regarding the possible uses of the property. Council Member Norquist stated he needed to leave the meeting for another commitment, and left at 6:50 p.m. Discussion of the two parcels continued with Council Members Ivey and Turville showing interest in the American Aluminum site, but felt that the price for the junk yard site is excessive for the potential uses of the City. It was their consensus that we further pursue the American Aluminum site. Dole Citrus Property It was proposed that we contact Dole regarding their intentions of the Dole Citrus property located at the north end of West Avenue and suggest the possibility of their donating the property for civic use. Realignment of Grand Highway The possibility of realigning Grand Highway running south of Highway 50 that had been suggested by a potential developer was discussed. There was no opposition stated to this realignment as long as it was part of the development plan for the site.
