03-29-1994 Workshop Meeting CITY OF CLERMONT MINUTES WORKSHOP MEETING March 29, 1994 A Workshop Meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was held Tuesday,. March 29, 1994 in the City Hall meeting room. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Pool at 6:30 p.m. with the following Council Members in attendance: Council Member Norquist, Council Member Cole, and Council Member Ivey. Council Member Turville arrived at 6:45 p.m. Also present was City Manager Saunders, City Attorney Baird, Public Service Director Davis, Finance Director Van Zile, and representatives from Precision Meters. Jodway/Motel 8 Water Billing Dispute Mayor Pool stated that the purpose of the meeting was to review the situation with Motel 8 regarding the allegations that Mr. Jodway has made concerning over-billing. City Manager Saunders presented each Council Member with a packet of materials and a summary of the various complaints that Mr. Jodway has made regarding possible reasons for overcharge. He discussed in detail with the Council and reviewed with them the past several year's meter readings. Council Member Turville arrived at 6:45 p.m. .Mayor Pool then gave Mr. Jodway an opportunity to respond. Representatives from Precision Meter made comments on their meters and their reliability and testing. It was explained that no decisions could be made at this time because the meeting was a workshop. Mayor Pool thanked Mr. Jodway for attending the meeting and he left at approximately 7:35 p.m. Garbage Pickup Problems Problems that have occurred regarding garbage pickup were discussed, in particular, piles of trash that remain on the curb for several days. It was suggested that we revise the way we notify residents regarding the proper procedures. CITY OF CLERMONT MINUTES WORKSHOP MEETING March 29, 1994 Page 2 Abandoned Vehicles Next discussed was the problem with abandoned vehicles along Bloxam Avenue and City Manager Saunders stated that he would meet with the Code Enforcement Officer regarding these trucks. Dump Area on School Street Council Member Cole stated that we needed to take a look at the area north of the intersection of School Street and DeSoto Street. It appears to be an area where people dump trash and should be cleaned up. Hazardous Materials The Council then discussed the need for pickup of hazardous materials. West Avenue Property Cleanup City Manager Saunders updated the Council regarding the removal of the old slab on City property at the north end of West Avenue. He explained that during the removal process they discovered two large foundation blocks that were too large to remove. The removal company will give us an estimate for breaking up these structures and removing them. Also discovered was a pit that had a strong fuel odor. City Manager Saunders will contact an authorized clean-up company to advise as to a potential problem. Dole Citrus Property Appraisal City Manager Saunders informed the Council that an estimated cost for the appraisal of the Dole-Citrus property was $1,000 and suggested to get three comparative costs for the appraisal and move ahead with it as soon as possible. No Council Member disagreed with this. CITY OF CLERMONT MINUTES WORKSHOP MEETING March 29, 1994 Page 3 Jaycee Beach Area Parking Fees The Council discussed the proposed fee for parking at Jaycee Beach and it was the consensus that it should be $2 per carload with an annual City of Clermont resident pass at no charge.
