WORKSHOP MEETING
?
February 1, 1994
A Workshop Meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was held Tuesday,
February 1, 1994 in the City Hall meeting room. The meeting was called to order by
Mayor Pool at 6:30 p.m. with the following Council Members in attendance: Council
Member Norquist, Council Member Cole, Council Member Turville, and Council
Member Ivey. Also present was City Manager Saunders and Planning Director
Harker.
Chamber of Commerce
City Manager Saunders presented a sketch of a proposed sign to Council Members
that the Chamber of Commerce would like to install on the lamp post in front of
Jenkins Auditorium. There was no opposition to this sign.
City Manager Saunders also indicated that Howard Stockton, Director of the Chamber
of Commerce asked if City Council saw a need for a "vision" meeting similar to the
one Leesburg and the Chamber participated in a few weeks ago. After discussion,
Council Members agreed that with the number of workshops held where future
development is discussed, they do not see a need for a separate meeting of this kind.
Bloxam Avenue
The existing Bloxam Avenue well was discussed and the possible need for additional
land if water treatment of some kind was required in the future. Council Members
directed City Manager Saunders to talk to adjoining property owners about the
availability of adjoining land.
K-Mart Building
City Manager Saunders discussed the recent editorial that appeared in the newspaper
by Ann Dupee regarding the possibility of City Hall and the Fire Department being
relocated to the K-Mart building once they have moved into their new facility.

After considerable discussion it was the consensus that this would not be a feasible
move for the City and it would probably be a detriment to the shopping center for a
governmental entity to utilize a large portion of a retail facility.
Several Council Members expressed their desire to help the present owners attract new
business and fill the old center as soon as possible.
Police Department
City Manager Saunders reported that the final panels have been replaced as agreed on
the new Police Department roof and if there are no objections, final payment will be
released as soon as the close-out documents are received from the contractor.
Mayor Pool asked that additional signage be placed on the front door and over the
intercom. City Manager Saunders informed the Council that additional signage in
Spanish has been ordered for the door and that signage will be ordered to place over
the intercom.
Water Tank Repainting
City Manager Saunders showed Council Members the available sizes for the City's
logo on the 500,000 gallon water tank which is scheduled for repainting. It was
agreed that the size should be 50 % larger than the existing logo on the tank.
Sludge Disposal Agreement
The sludge disposal agreement with John Arnold Enterprises is scheduled for renewal.
City Manager Saunders provided the costs proposed by Mr. Arnold for the new
agreement. After discussion he stated that this would be on the next Council Agenda
for formal approval.
