01-05-1995 Workshop Meeting GITY OF CLERMONT MINUTES WORKSHOP MEETING January 5, 1995 A Workshop Meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was held Thursday, January 5, 1994 in the City Hall Conference Room. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Pool at 6:00 p.m. with' the following Council Members in attendance: Council Member Sargent and Council Member Dupee. Also present was City 'Manager Saunders and Jon Fortier. Committee Appointment Mr. Jori Fortier addressed the Council stating that he would like to be considered for re-appointment to the Code Enforcement Board and that he would also be willing to serve on the Community Development Block Grant Citizens Advisory Task Force. Council thanked Mr. Fortier for his interest in the City and he left the meeting at 6:15 p.m. Board and Commission Appointments The Council Members then discussed the other Board appointments to be made at the next regular Council Meeting. City Manager Saunders presented each Council Member a packet which included copies of letters received by those interested in serving on the various Boards and Commissions. Non-Resident Recreation Fees The Council Members discussed amending the Non-Resident Fees to include a $100 per year family fee as an alternative to the $25 per registration fee. It was agreed to place this on a future agenda. Planning & Zoning Fee Schedule City Manager Saunders discussed the fee schedule changes for the various Planning and Zoning Commission fees that are now being charged. He indicated that he would present this at the next Council Meeting for adoption. CITY OF GL~RMO~VT MINUTES WORKSHOP MEETING January 5, 1995 Page 2 Sidewalk Donation City Manager Saunders informed the Council Members that Hope Leedom has volunteered to pay for the construction of a sidewalk from Park Pals restrooms to the board walk which would make access easier for the elderly and the handicapped. He is investigating the need for a Storm Water Permit for the additional impervious area. Council had no objection to this donation. Palatlakaha Recreation Area Canoe Launch After discussion of the improvements to be funded by the Dept. of Environmental Protection $50,000 Grant, it was the consensus of the Council Members to construct a stationary dock approximately 5' wide and 12' long for the canoe launch. Max Judy Memorial A request for the placement of a Max Judy Memorial in the park was discussed. City Manager Saunders explained that the group's latest idea was a group of benches to be placed near the playground; No one had any objection to this project. North Ridge Subdivision Developments The recent developments regarding the request of the developers of the North Ridge Subdivision to close the section of Jacks Lake Road that runs south of their proposed subdivision was discussed. This request has been made to the County Commissioners and was tabled at their last meeting. City Manager Saunders advised the Council that Council Members should express their support for this project to our County. Commissioners. Greater Construction Water System City Manager Saunders informed the Council of the recent meeting that he and Mayor Pool had with Bob Mandell of Greater Construction. The main purpose of the meeting was to look at the possibility of the City acquiring the existing 16" water line along Hancock Road that is owned by Lake Hills Utilities. He explained that Mr. CITY OF CLERMONT MINUTES WORKSHOP MEETING January 5, 1.995 Page 3 Mandell has offered to sell the line to the City and has requested the City reconsider purchasing the entire system. The details of the project were discussed at length and the Council directed City Manager Saunders to continue negotiations with Mr. Mandell for the purchase of the entire system. Desk Chair City Manager Saunders then told Council that his desk chair was no longer repairable and there was no money budgeted for a new chair.
