COUNCIL WORKSHOP MEETING
OCTOBER 30, 1996
A Workshop Meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was held
Wednesday, October 30, 1996 in the City Hall conference room. The meeting was
called to order by Mayor Pool at 6:00 p.m. with the following Council Members in
attendance: Council Member Cole, Council Member Dupee, Council Member
Norquist, and Council Member Sargent. Also present was City Manager Saunders
and Bill McCoy.
East Side Sewage Treatment Plant
City Manager Saunders explained to the Council that the new East Side Sewage
Treatment plant has been issued a Substantial Completion and we are proceeding with
the operation of the plant.
Sheriff Department Building Lease
The proposed renewal of the lease of the City's building to the Sheriff's Department
was discussed. There were no objections to the renewal of the lease.
Soccer Field Fence Request
A request by Harry Schwab to fence the soccer field at Palatlakaha Recreation Area
was discussed. Mr. Schwab's request stated that the fence was requested due to
recent vandalism. It was the consensus to wait and see if we have a continued
problem.
Mayor Pool suggested that a gate similar to the one at the south parking lot could be
installed to prevent traffic from entering the lower part of the park after hours. City
Manager Saunders stated that we would proceed with the installation of a gate.

General Election
Providing of lunches to the poll workers at the upcoming election was discussed.
There were no objections.
Fire Department Building Use
The Fire Department's proposal to use thc Bon ~Iorn Building that was purchased last
year by the City was discussed. The City will be taking possession of the building in
November and the Fire Department would like to proceed with plans for their use.
There were no objections.
Tails to Trails Property Acquisition
City Manager Saunders updated the Council on the acquisition of the Railroad Right-
of-way adjacent to the Schafer property which is needed for the Rails to Trails project.
It was the consensus to proceed.
4-Way Stop at Carroll and 4th
A proposal to install a 4-way stop at the intersection of Carroll and 4th Street which is
a dangerous intersection due to the boat traffic leaving the beach was discussed. No
opposition to this change was made.
Police Chief Appointment
The possibility of promoting Randy Story to the position of Police Chief was
discussed. There was considerable discussion and City Manager Saunders was
directed to place this on a regular Council agenda.
