COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY PUBLIC HEARING
May 28, 1998
A public hearing for the proposed redevelopment plan of the Community
Redevelopment Agency of the City of Clermont was held Thursday, May 28, 1998 at
Jenkins Auditorium at 691 Montrose Street was called to order by Mayor Pool at 7:00
p.m. with the following Council Members in attendance: Council Member Norquist,
Council Member Wolfe, and Council Member Brown. Also present was City Manager
Saunders, Planning Director Harker, and Planner Brown, and Community
Redevelopment Agency members Jeff Biddle and Elaine Rennick.
Mayor Pool introduced City Manager Saunders who welcomed those present and
provided a brief history of the downtown area and past attempts at organizing
redevelopment projects. He explained that the Downtown Parmership has now
provided the nucleus to move ahead with a CRA.
City Manager Saunders introduced City Planner Barry Brown who gave an additional
explanation regarding the purpose of the CRA. He presented .the proposed
redevelopment plan and referred to maps that were on display indicating the boundary
and explained the process for adoption, including the goals and objectives, and
potential projects. He opened the floor and received comments from those present
regarding the proposed redevelopment plan. There was considerable discussion
regarding such items as placing utilities underground, providing additional landscaping
and decorative lighting, and the need for bike racks.
Also discussed was the possibility of the Florida Mainstreet designation and the location
of possible gate ways into the Central Business District.
After the close of the public comment, Mayor Pool stated that the CRA should now
adopt the plan in order to move ahead with the next step.

A motion was made by JeffBiddle, seconded by Ken Norquist and carried
unanimously to adopt the Communit~ Redevelopment Agen~
The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
