08-28-2000 Workshop Meeting CITY OF CLERMONT MINUTES COUNCIL WORKSHOP MEETING AUGUST 28, 2000 Page 1 A Workshop Meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was held Monday, August 28, 2000, at the Police Department. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Mayor Turville. Council Members Biddle, MacLauchlin, Mullins and Lamb were present; also present were City Manager Saunders, Planning Director Barry Brown and City Engineer Richardson. Mayor Turville welcomed those present. The first item to be discussed was the Pig on the Pond event, being planned by the South Lake Community Foundation. Jenny Wagner was present and discussed the event with the City Council, and reviewed the transportation and parking plans for the event. Next discussed was the old Clervue Drive-In sign located on Highway 50. Mr. Bob Wade was present to explain to the Council his request for a variance for future use of the sign. City Manager Saunders stated that this would be presented to the Council at the second meeting of September. City Engineer Richardson then discussed with the Council a proposed grading ordinance that will limit the amount of cut or fill, and in some cases require City Council approval of grading plans prior to commencement of a project. After discussion, Mayor Turville asked that the grading plan be submitted to City Attome. y Guthrie for his review prior to presenting it to the Council for adoption. The next item to be discussed was the proposed site plan for the northeast comer of Highway 50 and Hancock Road. The project is being proposed by Darrell Carter. Mr. Scott Gentry, an engineer for Mr. Carter made a presentation regarding the plan, including several cross sections depicting the proposed grading. Mr. Nick Condoruso, representing Levitt Homes, stated that as a neighbor to the project they had concerns regarding the aesthetics of the project. Mr. Carter presented to the Council a model of the site depicting the proposed changes in elevations and the layout of the project. Council Member Lamb left the meeting at approximately 8:15 p.m. Discussion continued regarding the proposed shopping center site. City Manager Saunders explained that the project will be presented to the City Council as a Conditional use Permit in the near future. He explained that this is a request by the Downtown Partnership and he felt that this would be an improvement on the First Fridays with regard to entertainment that is provided.
