COUNCIL WORKSHOP MEETING
July 15, 1999
A Workshop Meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was held July 15,
1999, at the Police Department The meeting was called to order by Mayor Harold
Turville, Jr. at 6:00 p.m. with the following Council Members in attendance: Council
Member Wolfe, Council Member Biddle, Council Member Lamb and Council Member
Brown. Also present was City Manager Wayne Saunders, and Finance Director Van
Zile.
Mayor Turville stated that prior to talking about the Budget he would like to discuss the
water fowl at Center Lake. Mr. Sterling Frey was present and entered into the
discussion. It was a consensus at the end of the discussion to relocate all of the birds to
other lakes within the City, such as Sparkling Lake, Crystal Lake and East Lake.
City Manager Saunders then recognized Mr. Ray Gilley and Mr. Howard Stockton who
were present representing the Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Gilley and Mr. Stockton
presented to the Council their request for additional funding for the upcoming year.
They specifically requested that Council consider $1.00 per capita as a cash
contribution in addition to the services that are now provided to the Chamber by the
City of Clermont. The Council stated that they would take this under consideration and
thanked Mr. Gilley and Mr. Stockton for being present.
City Manager Saunders then discussed with the Council other agency requests that had
been received for funding, including the Lake Community Action Agency, Hospice,
Childhood Development Services, and Angles of Mercy. City Manager Saunders
explained that the only 'funding that is now included in the budget is $1,000 for the
Lake Community Action Agency, and that is earmarked specifically for the Clermont
HeadStart Program.
The Council then discussed the request made by the Library for additional funding.
City Manager Saunders stated that the representatives of the Library will be present at
the next workshop to discuss their requests with the Council.
Finance Director'Van Zile and City Manager Saunders then asked the Council to refer
to their Budget handouts and continued discussion of individual fund budgets, including

recreation, water and sewage, stormwater and sanitation. Finance Director Van Zile
noted all adjustments that were suggested.
The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
