COUNCIL WORKSHOP MEETING
MAY 6, 1999
A Workshop Meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was held Thursday,
May 6, 1999, at the Police Department. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by
Mayor Turville. Council Members Jeff Biddle, Jim Brown, Hope Lamb and Speedy
Wolfe were present. Also present was City Manager Saunders.
Mayor Turville explained that the purpose of this meeting was to listen to the
presentation of the short-listed candidates for the City Attorney position. He suggested
that individual Council Members make reference calls following the presentations and
an additional workshop be scheduled to discuss the results of those calls and ranking of
the firms.
Mayor Turville then introduced Leonard Baird as the first applicant to be interviewed.
Mr. Baird gave a presentation of his qualifications and his background. Following Mr.
Baird's presentation Council Members were given the opportunity to ask questions of
Mr. Baird.
Mayor Turville then introduced the firm Fishback, Dominick, Bennett, Stepter,
Ardaman, Ahlers & Banks. Mr. Ardaman made a presentation along with Lionel
Rubio. Mr. Ardaman gave an overview of their firm and presented the Council with
handouts providing information about their firm and their proposed services to the City.
After their presentation,. Council Members were given an opportunity to ask questions.
The next firm to make a presentation was Frank Kruppenbacher, P.A. Robert Guthrie
stated that he would be the attorney representing the City if the firm was selected.
After Mr. Guthrie's presentation Council Members were given an opportunity to ask
questions.
The next attorney to make a presentation was Russell Burgan. Mr. Burgan presented
his background and qualifications to the City Council explaining that he had no land-
use experience however he was a resident of the City and felt like he could represent
the City. After his presentation the Council Members were given an opportunity to ask
questions.

Attorney Leslie Campione made the next presentation. Ms. Campione presented to the
Council her qualifications and background after which Council Members were given an
opportunity to ask questions.
The firm of Fowler, Barice, Feeney & O'Quinn then made their presentation to the City
Council giving the Council an overview of the structure of their firm and their
qualifications and background. After the presentation the City Council Members were
given an oppommity to ask questions.
There being no more business, the meeting adjourned at 9:45 p.m.
