COUNCIL WORKSHOP/RETREAT
January 23, 2004
The Clermont City Council met in a workshop on Friday, January 23, 2004 in the Council Chambers at City
Hall. Mayor Pro Tern Keith Mullins called the workshop to order at 9:00 am with the following Council
Members present: Council Members Ash, Caputo and Renick. Other City officials present were City
Manager Saunders and City Clerk Ackroyd.
Presentations were given to the City Council for consideration to hire a consultant to evaluate the Clermont
Police Department by the following: Donald Long - Management Advisory Group, Inc., John Rob- Carroll
Buracker & Associates, Inc. and Travis Miller - Matrix Consulting Group. The City Council questioned
each of the consulting firms.
Mayor Turville arrived at 10:30am.
The City Council recessed for lunch at 12:15pm.
Workshop reconvened at 1:30pm.
The City Council reviewed the reappointments and new requests to the Planning and Zoning Commission,
Code Enforcement Board, Parks and Recreation Committee and Council outside agency appointments. The
following applicants were present: Sy Holzman, Henry Rhee, Roger Pierce, Peter Geigel, Carolyn
Mathieson, David Outlaw and Stephen Berlinsky. Each applicant gave a brief biography, stated reasons to
be selected to the board as well as answered questions from the Council Members.
Sharon Farrell, Principal Planner, briefed Council on the Joint Planning Agreement Land Development
Regulations.
Council agreed to discuss the CRA, downtown signage and landscaping at a February workshop with
adoption in March.
Discussion ensued amongst the Council in reference to hiring a consultant for the Police Department.
ADJOURN: With no further comments, the workshop was adjourned at 5:35pm.
