01-22-2004 Workshop Meeting CITY OF CLERMONT MINUTES WORKSHOP MEETING January 22, 2004 Page ! A Workshop Meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2004 at City Hall in the City Council Chambers. The Meeting was called to order at 6:15 p.m. Mayor Turville, Council Members Ash, Caputo and Renick were present. Also present was City Manager Saunders. Mayor Turville welcomed those present. Mr. Berlinsky requested the City Council to allow Congregation Sinai to utilize the City Hall Council Chambers for the Congregation meetings. After a brief discussion it was the consensus of Council that the Council Chambers should only be used for governmental related meetings. Council Member Mullins arrived at 6:25 p.m. and joined in the discussion regarding Congregation Sinai. City Manager Saunders explained the main purpose for this evening meeting was to review a draft proposal for fire service for the City of Minneola. Mr. Saunders proceeded to review the major points that would be included in the proposal, indicating the intent of the proposal is to provide service to Minneola at the same level that is now being provided in Stations One and Two for the citizens of Clermont. Mr. Saunders explained that proposal should be drafted in a way to provide Minneola the required service but at the same time provide a benefit to the citizens of Clermont. Administrative Services Director Van Zile reviewed the cost associated with providing this service. After the discussion Mayor Turville asked Mr. Joe Teri, a Minneola Council Member who was present in the audience, if he had any comments. Mr. Teri suggested that Clermont should not put any more effort into the proposal until the Minneola Citizens Committee clearly outlines what they want with regard to level of service. It was the consensuses to delay any additional actions regarding this proposal. City Manager Saunders stated this item will be on the next City Council Meeting Agenda and recommended that the Council table the Minneola Fire Proposal for an indefinite period. City Manager Saunders reviewed with the Council the procedure for interviewing Police Department Consultants that will be interviewed on Friday.
