MINUTES
REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
November 29, 2022
CALL TO ORDER
The City Council met in a regular meeting on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 in the Clermont City Council
Chambers. Mayor Murry called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm with the following Council Members
present: Council Members Bates, Pines, Entsuah, and Purvis.
Other City officials present were City Manager Bulthuis, City Attorney Mantzaris, and City Clerk Howe.
INVOCATION AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The invocation was given by Fire Chaplain Rick Spence followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor Murry recognized Cub Scouts Pack 268 who were present at the meeting.
PUBLIC COMMENTS
Charlene Forth, 939 W. Desoto Street — spoke regarding the candidates from the election.
ELECTION RESULTS ACCEPTANCE
City Clerk Howe read the election results into the record.
For Clermont City Council Seat 1, Michael Gonzalez received 7,684 votes.
For Clermont City Council Seat 3 (Mayor), Tim Murry received 8,419 votes.
For Clermont City Council Seat 5, Michele Barnard Pines received 7,388 votes.
Council Member Bates moved to approve the election results dated November 8 2022•
seconded by Council Member Purvis. Passed unanimously 5-0 with all members present
voicing, ave.
PRESENTATION
Council Members and the Mayor expressed appreciation to Mr. Bates for his time on City Council.
City Manager Bulthuis gave thanks to Council Member Bates for his service to the City of Clermont. Mr.
Bulthuis stated that Council Member Bates is a person who truly cares about his community.
City Attorney Mantzaris said Council Member Bates has done a wonderful job; appreciate the opportunity
to sit next to him for the last ten years.
Mayor Murry presented Council Member Bates with a plaque in recognition of his dedication and years of
service as the Council Member from 2012 to 2022.
Council Member Bates stated this moment is bittersweet as he will truly miss being a Council Member. It
has been an honor and privilege to serve for 10 years. Mr. Bates expressed his appreciation to his family,
former and current city staff and Council Members along with the citizens and business community of the
City of Clermont. Mr. Bates shared that he was grateful for the opportunity and thoroughly enjoyed the last
10 years.
ADMINISTRATION OF OATH OF OFFICE OF ELECTED OFFICALS FOR SEATS 1.3 AND 5
City Clerk Howe administered the Oaths of Office to Michael Gonzalez, Seat 1; Michele Pines, Seat 5 and
Tim Murry, Seat 3 (Mayor) for a two year term.

Newly elected Council Member Gonzalez replaced Council Member Bates at the dais.
COUNCIL COMMENTS
Council Member Purvis welcomed Council Member Gonzalez.
Council Member Entsuah welcomed back Council Member Pines and Mayor Murry and welcomed
Council Member Gonzalez.
Council Member Gonzalez thanked the citizens for electing him to Council. He commented on serving on
the Planning and Zoning Commission with compassion, decorum, civility and respect and he plans to carry
that into his new role as a Council Member. Mr. Gonzalez is looking forward to working with Council and
staff.
Council Member Pines thanked her supporters for being behind her through the election. Ms. Pines is
prepared to continue doing the work that City Manager Bulthuis has moved the City forward in.
Mayor Murry thanked his wife and family for allowing him to run and for all the support throughout the
campaign. Thanked the residents for this opportunity; it has been a pleasure to serve. Appreciate the
confidence to re-elect him for a second term.
SELECTION OF MAYOR PRO TEM
Council Member Pines nominated Council Member Purvis for Mayor Pro Tem. He has been involved in
city government for 21 years and deserves that recognition.
Mayor Murry agreed with the nomination.
Council Member Pines moved to nominate Council Member Purvis as Mayor Pro Tern:
seconded by Council Member Gonzalez. Passed unanimously 5-0 with all members present
voicing aye.
Council Member Purvis thanked everyone for the confidence and support.
City Manager Bulthuis reminded everyone of the events happening this coming weekend. Friday is Light
Up Clermont at 6:30pm at City Hall Park. Saturday is the parade at loam. Encouraged everyone to stay
after to shop downtown. Also, next week is the Cookies and Cocoa event.
The Clermont Police Department has a basketball game vs the Sheriff's Office at 6pm on December 20 at
Clermont Elementary. Mayor Murry added that the event is the Battle of the Badges and to bring an
unwrapped toy as entry to the game. All toys will go to Christian Men in Action to hand out to children at
McKinney Park on December 24.
Starting next month, the Mayor's luncheon will be the first Tuesday of each month. December's lunch will
be at Goomba's Restaurant at 12:00pm on December 6. The attendees are expected to pay their own way.
