Proclamation #2023-020P2023-020P P,1X%1QW1'1CjAMAfjj"0JV Whereas, lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death among men and women in the United States, accounting for more than colon cancer, breast cancer, and prostate cancer combined; and Whereas, an estimated 238,340 Americans will be diagnosed with lung cancer this year; and Whereas, screening for lung cancer for high -risk individuals using low -dosed tomography can lead to the earlier detection of lung cancer and save lives; and Whereas, funding for lung cancer research trails far behind funding for research for many other cancers, and additional research is needed in early diagnosis, screening and treatment for lung cancer as well as in lung cancer affecting women and lung cancer health disparities; and Whereas, organizations such as the American Lung Cancer Screening Initiative are committed to educating about lung cancer and lung cancer screening and working to increase lung cancer screening rates; and NOW, Therefore, I, Tim Murry, Mayor of the City of Clermont in the State of Florida, do hereby proclaim the month of November, Two Thousand and Twenty Three as: Tung Cancer Awareness Month In Witness 'Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the City of Clermont to be affixed this loth Day of October in the year Two Thousand and Twenty Three.
