Proclamation #2024-002P2024-002P PROCLAMAvojv Whereas, since the fall of Saigon in 1975, more than one million Vietnamese have resettled in the United States, including many in Lake County and the City of Clermont; and Whereas, the Vietnamese -Americans have become loyal citizens, contributing greatly in the areas of business, commerce and culture; and Whereas, the majority of Vietnamese —Americans embrace the Vietnamese Heritage and Freedom Flag which appears as three red stripes upon a field of gold. The flag symbolizes their community and their cultural identity, as a uniting symbol that represents resilience, freedom and democracy; and Whereas, it is the will of the community members of the Vietnamese Freedom Independent Flag Association the Vietnamese Heritage and Freedom Flag be recognized as the official flag of their organization by the City of Clermont; and Now, Therefore, I, Tim Murry, Mayor of the City of Clermont in the State of Florida, do formally recognize the Heritage and Freedom Flag as the official symbol of Clermont's Vietnamese -American community, acknowledge their efforts to promote freedom, human rights and democracy. In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the City of Clermont to be affixed this 26th Day of January in the year Two Thousand and Twenty Four.
