NO. 1440
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CLERMONT, LAKE COUNTY, FLORIDA; REQUIRING
APPLICANTS WHO PETITION THE CITY FOR A LAND USE OR
ZONING CHANGE THAT INCREASES THE NUMBER OF
STUDENTS IN SOUTH LAKE COUNTY SCHOOLS PROVIDE
CERTAIN INFORMATION RELATED TO THE IMPACT OF
SUCH DEVELOPMENT REQUEST ON THE LOCAL SCHOOLS
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTING RESOLUTION; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the public schools in south Lake County aze severely overcrowded,
and
WHEREAS, the public schools in south Lake County aze projected to be even
more overcrowded in future years, and
WHEREAS, the Lake County School Boazd currently has insufficient funds to
provide for all the capital projects needed to provide capacity and services for our
students, and
. WHEREAS, the problem of overcrowding is exacerbated by land use decisions
that increase residential densities, and
WHEREAS, we believe reducing overcrowding is in the best interest of our
children.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Clermont, Lake County, Florida that:
SECTION 1. Every applicant for a proposed land use or zoning change that will
result in an increase in the number of students in schools in south Lake County will
provide as part of its application to the City of Clermont, as a minimum and in addition to
all other information required by state law and city code, the following information:
a. The anticipated number of additional students resulting from proposed
land use or zoning change;
b. A statement that the applicant has conferred with representatives of the
Lake County School Board to discuss the impact of the proposed land use
or zoning change and a written statement of impact from the District shall
be presented;
c. A list of any and all proposed measures that the applicant is willing to take
• to address the impact, if any, of the land use or zoning change on south
Lake County Schools.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
