SPECIAL MEETING
SEPTEMBER 14, 2006
• The Clermont City Council met in a special meeting on Thursday, September 14, 2006 in the Council
Chambers at City Hall. Mayor Hal Turville called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm with the following
Council Members present: Council Members Mullins, Goodgame, and Hogan. Other City officials
present were: City Manager Saunders, Assistant City Manager Gray, Administrative Services Director
Van Zile and City Clerk Ackroyd.
FINAL BUDGET PUBLIC HEARING
AD VALOREM MILEAGE RATE
Resaiution 1483
Mayor Turville read Resolution 1483 aloud in its entirety.
A Resolution of the City of Clermont of Lake County, Florida, establishing an ad
valorem millage rate for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2006, and ending September
30, 2007; providing for collection of taxes; providing an effective date.
Resolution 1484
Mayor Turville read Resolution 1484 aloud in its entirety.
A Resolution of the City of Clermont, Lake County, Florida, adopting the budget for the
2006-2007 Fiscal Year.
• Mayor Turville opened the public hearing.
Clinton Pomell voiced opposition to the proposed increase in the IT Department.
City Manager Saunders stated the five percent increase is a proposed amendment to the salary range for
the position. The individuals increase will be based on the individual's performance evaluation.
Administrative Services Director Van Zile noted the reason for the adjustment is due to adding two (2)
additional IT Technicians which will add supervisory responsibilities to the position. Furthermore, all
employees receive a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) increase if not maxed out in their salary range.
City Manager Saunders commented that employees can receive a merit increase at the time of their annual
evaluation.
Jim Purvis questioned the amount spent in maintaining the cemetery operations.
City Manager Saunders stated the earnings made on the trust fund are transferred to the Public Services
Department for Cemetery maintenance to supplement as it does not earn enough money to cover the
entire cost.
Mayor Turville closed the public hearing.
