07-11-1984 Workshop Meeting e . CITY OF CLERMONT MINUTES WORKSHOP MEETING July 11, 1984 A Workshop Meeting of the City Council of the City of Clermont was held on Wednesday, July 11, 1984 in the City Manager's Office. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Mayor Beals with the following Council Members in attendance: Cole, Pool, Turville, and Henry. Other City Officials attending were City Manager Forbes and Finance Director Saunders. City Manager Forbes presented a copy of the 1984 - 1985 Proposed Budget to each Council Member and began the meeting with a detailed explanation of the Budget Message. There being no objections to this procedure, Mr. Forbes read the major sections of the message, placing particular emphasis on any proposed in- creases in expenditures, and the long term financial conditions of each fund. Following the explanation of the Budget Message, Mr. Forbes suggested that the next item of discussion should be Table II of the proposed budget which outlines requested Capital Outlay. Mr. Saunders began the discussion by explaining the Capital Outlay requests of the Finance and Administration Departments. Council Member Turville questioned the scheduling and efficient use of the City's existing word processor, in questioning the request for a second machine". Much discussion ensued, and Mr. Forbes and Mr. Saunders presented their justifications for the second machine. Mr. Turville also questioned the cost effectiveness of the burster requested by the Finance Department. Mr. Saunders explained that the pay back period for the equipment would be approximately l~ years. Presently it takes an employee eight hours to tear apart the water bills. Mr. Forbes explained the Capital Outlay requests of the Police, Public Works, Fire, Water and Sewer Departments. Council Member Turville requested that a list of all vehicles owned by the City be presented before evaluating vehicle replacement requests. City Manager Forbes stated that the list would be avail- able before the next Workshop Meeting. He further stated that the Budget Issues portion of the Budget Message should be discussed in detail at the next Workshop. The next Workshop Meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 1984 in the City Hall Conference Room. There being no further business, adjourned at 8:45 p.m. ATTEST: WA
