BUDGET WORKSHOP
JULY 18, 2007
The Clermont City Council met for a budget workshop on Tuesday, July 18, 2007 in the Council
Chambers at City Hall. Mayor Turville called the workshop to order at 6:00 pm with the following
Council Members present: Council Members Mullins, Goodgame, Hogan and Berlinsky. Other City
officials present were: City Manager Saunders, Administrative Services Director Van Zile, and City
Clerk Ackroyd.
City Manager Saunders and the City Council reviewed the Fire Department budget. Fire Chief Bishop
was present to answer questions. Council and staff discussed the additional requested positions. City
Manager Saunders suggested adding the reclassification to the Captains position for prevention to be
effective October 1, 2007 and include three (3) Lieutenant Positions effective October 1, 2007. The
Council requested bringing back the generator request later in the budget sessions.
Council and staff reviewed the Public Services Division budgets. Preston Davis, Public Services
Director, was present to answer questions. Staff proposed to fund an Assistant Public Services Director
position to be effective January 2008. Preston Davis noted the requested pick up truck will not be needed.
Council agreed to transfer the funds for a truck and put it towards resurfacing the tennis courts at Kehlor
Park. They discussed park projects, tree beautification, street paving projects and storm-water projects.
Council and staff reviewed the Sanitation budget. There was two (2) additional staff requested for this
department to be efficient.
The next budget reviewed was the Engineering Department. An Inspector position has been proposed to
be reclassified and then reviewed the capital outlay requests.
Council reviewed the Building Construction Fund which is created when there is a construction project.
There are currently two (2) projects in the current year -Fire Administration Building Expansion and Fire
Station 3. The following year should be the Community Center.
The Community Center project was discussed by Council and City Manager Saunders.
City Manager Saunders reviewed the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) budget and discussed
the streetscape project.
The workshop was adjourned at 8:11pm.
